My eyes moved up reluctantly from the book I'm reading to the door, when I heard a rapid knocking and used my headphone's chord as a book marker.
"Argghh.. just a second!" I yelled jumping from the bed and ran towards the door. I twisted the door knob and pulled it open. I saw Joaquin, fist still hanging up with a stern look on his face.
"Oh.. good to see you," I greeted, sarcastically. "I was actually thinking you already forgot about me being here." I said and saw him rolled his eyes before I turned around and walked back to the bed.
"You know you can leave your room, right?" I heard his voice following behind me. "I never said you are a prisoner in here. Besides didn't Jen told you, you can go out if you wanted to."
My face scrunched up when I remember what she told me. "Well she did.." I shrugged. "But she also told me that I have to bring someone with me if I'm going out, and I'm not leaving with Frank Farmer or Joe following me around." I said turning to look at him.
He looked at me with amused eyes. "Don't worry I don't think Kevin Costner would take a job as a bodyguard again. Especially you who's much stronger than him." he said, giving me a lopsided smile. Then his face looked puzzled. "wait.. who's Joe?" He asked.
I made a fake shock face and gasped, "you don't know Joe?" He just stared at me blankly. I shook my head, clicking my tongue then turned back to the bed.
I yelped when I felt him tugged the hood of my hoodie, stopping me from climbing on the bed.
"No no no no." He exclaimed. I turned around to face him, making him let go of my hood, and saw his eyebrow raised. " I heard you never left this room since the last time I saw you.. which if I remember it correctly that was five days ago"
Oh.. yeah, that's right. I've been here for that long. Although I'm not keen of free lodging, I decided to stay. Besides it's not like I have a solid plan on what to do after I left my pack. So I'm staying here for awhile, until I know I'm ready.
Since the day I was brought here, Jen made sure I'm comfortable and always bringing me food to eat. Almost everyday she brings me sweets, she personally made, and they're all good. Every night before I went to sleep, she brings me warm milk and cookies. Only leaving me until I fell asleep. I'm really grateful of her, because with her keeping me company, I never had the time to think about Aiden.
Sometimes when she had her free time she stayed with me and we chatted for a couple of hours. We talked about a lot of things, like her life and the life in Guardian Society.
Jen's twenty-eight years old. She has a mate, his name is Rey. She met him at the Academy, nine years ago, when he started attending the school. Rey is currently under Joaquin's department, as a trainer for 12 year-old werewolves.
At twenty-two, Jen became Joaquin's secretary, it's her job to take care of his schedules. I asked her why was she with me, if the old man needed her, and she only shrugged at me while smiling mysteriously. When she started talking about him, I couldn't help but to ask her about Joaquin. The man is the only living relative that I have, so I wanted to know him.
I assumed since she's been his secretary for a long time, she knows something about him, but I was wrong. She told me that her knowledge about her boss was limited. The only things she knows about him is that he's a good person, hardworking, mysterious and dangerous leader. She also said that in many years she'd seen and working for him, she could literally count in one hand the times she saw him smile, she actually never seen him laugh. He's always sporting a serious face.
