Aiden?
What the heck is going on? Asking myself.
"Thea?" Casey's worried face blocked Aiden, making me blinked. "Are you sure you're alright? you've been spacing out a lot, maybe we should go home?"
I shook my head, "No, it's fine, I mean I'm fine" I forced a smile, hoping she'd believe me.
"okay, fine." Finally giving up or not. "But if I caught you spacing out again, we're out of here. Okay?" she added.
I nodded, before she linked her arms with mine and guide me towards the catering table.
I took a side glance at Aiden, who was still looking at us.
Why was he looking at me like that? Could it be? I shook my head mentally. No...
Thea it was nothing. Maybe he wasn't really looking at you. Stop assuming! I chastised myself and pushed all the stupid thought to the back of my head.
Looking at the people, my eyes caught Aunt Bekah who was sitting on the couch in the corner, looking exhausted.
"Casey" I slightly tagged her arms, and nodded towards her mom when she looked at me.
She turned her head and frowned, "what happened?" She muttered, unlinking our arms and walked towards her mom, with me following her behind.
"Mom.. are you alright?" She asked, sitting on her mom's left side.
"I'm fine." Aunt Bekah answered, and looked up at me. "Hey, sweetie. You came." She said, giving me her motherly smile.
"Hi Aunty" I sat on her right side, and gave her a half hug. "How are you?"
"I'm good, just a little bit tired from walking around, preparing for this party." she said.
"That's why I told you, stopped working. Isn't that the reason why you hired people? To let them do the work" Casey said, shaking her head with her arms crossed across her chest.
"well, yeah. But that's not important." she said, waving her hand. Something Casey usually do, obviously she got it from her mom. "are you girls enjoying the party?"
"Mom, Thea just came.. we haven't done anything yet."
"Is that so?" I nodded. "Well then, go on and have some fun" she said, giving a light tap on Casey's lap and mine's.
I looked at Casey, who just shrugged.
"okay.. but we're just going to go get some food and then we will come back here" I told her. Casey nodded and pushed herself up.
Aunt Bekah shook her head. "No, you don't have to. I'm going to Martin anyway. He looks like he needed my help" she said, looking at her husband. I followed her gaze and she was right. Uncle Martin looked so bored talking with the elders.
I nodded, "Well, Aunty.." I trailed off. She turned her head at me, and I gave her the gifts I was holding. "For Aiden.. the bigger one was from.." I said trailing off again.
I watched her as she looked at the gift and her eyes watered, immediately breaking my heart. She placed the gift gently on her lap, treating it like a treasure, and pulled me into a tight hug, which I willingly return and lightly patted her back.
