One week.. 7 days.. 168 hours.. 10,080 minutes..

It's been a week since my bestfriend and protector, my Mom died. Accident that's what they told me, but I don't believe it. Only a stupid one who will believe what they said, and I'm not stupid. I have two reasons not to believe them. First, I saw her dead body, she was bitten bitten to death and whoever did it he or she knows what they're doing. Second, and honestly I don't like it, I don't even want to consider it, suicide, my mom was a loving mother we might have some misunderstanding but isn't that normal for mother and daughter? The day she died was my father's death anniversary and the place she died at was the place where he was killed. A month ago she started talking about dad which was a taboo subject for us. It might sound cruel but for almost nine years not even once we tried to talk about him. So I was a little bit shocked when she mentioned him that night.

"Althea, do you miss your dad?" My mom asked in a low voice. I don't know if she really meant it for me to hear but thanks to the quiteness of the night I heard her properly. My head snapped in her direction, I even heard my bones cracking, but because of what she said I didn't really paid any attention.

"I do, do you?" I answered hurriedly. I can pretend that I didn't heard her and asked her what she asked, but I don't want her to change her mind. For almost nine years, since my dad died, not even once we tried to talk about him. I don't know why, maybe because we're both scared that one of use will breakdown once we started.

"I do miss him so much" she said with a sad smile. I don't really know what it feels like to lose your mate but I'm sure it hurts.

"He was great" I said. I'm confident to say that my father was the best dad ever. He was an amazing dad to me. He was a good person and strong beta to our pack. He was someone the kids looked up to and I know his death was a big loss to the pack.

"Yeah, he was" She said while staring at the night sky. I copied her and looked at the sky full with beautiful twinkling stars and the moon was on its first quarter it looked like it was trying to hide its half. It's actually fascinating.

"You're smart and strong" she said, I think..

"huh?" I asked looking at her dumbfounded. When I looked at her she was already looking at me. Amusement in her eyes and she was fighting a smile. I scowled at her. It's not my fault that every time I see the moon I get distracted, there's something about it that takes my attention and it fascinates me like it's telling me something.
