The trap door behind the 7-year old creaked as it lowered down, closing in on her and the only source of light.
Eri flinched slightly once she heard an audible 'click' from behind. With fear in her eyes, she slowly turned around and saw the trapdoor closed completely.
She gulped before making her way to the trapdoor, while swinging her arms around so she doesn't bump into something.
Her fingers brushed against the cold trapdoor before feeling a bump. She pressed her finger on it, finally noticing what it was, she exclaimed internally, 'it's a button!'
After pushing the button a few seconds passed by after another 'click' was heard and the trapdoor lifted and slightly opened. Eri smiled, knowing she won't be stuck here if she headed down the dim stairs.
Eri turned back to the stairs before started to take steps down, she extended her arms just in case she doesn't bump into anything.
While walking down, there was faint light that came from below. Even if the light was low—it lightened up the place a bit, making it easier for Eri to look at where she was going.
The light started to become brighter and brighter as she took continuous steps down the stairs, once she reached the bottom—she saw the source of the light. A door.
It was a normal looking door with a window in the center of it, Eri looked at the door then jumped slightly—to see if she can spot anything through the window.
Jumping was no use because it was too high for her height. Eri slowly lifted her arm before placing her hand on the door handle.
Eri pushed the door handle downwards slowly, trying to be as silent as she could be. Successfully, she opened the door and slowly pushed it open.
