Isabelle Carter was back at McKinley.
After their devastating loss at nationals, the New Directions were done for. Sue wanted to get rid of them, and as principal, she had the final say.
It was terrible. And today was their last day.
She had been busy with school, dancing any time she could. But calls with Quinn showed that she was clearly not a part of the New York group. She didn't have many friends anymore, apart from Quinn.
She hadn't talked to Sam since, well, you know.
Or Marley. Or Kitty or Blaine or anyone who still went to school at McKinley. She needed to get her social life back.
Walking into the choir room, she felt the familiarity of high school and wished that she could stay. She spotted Mercedes and Quinn, so she headed towards the back of the room to greet them.
"I've missed you," Izzy gave Mercedes a giant hug.
"And you," she turned to Quinn.
Looking around, she saw the familiar faces of the new glee club- Marley, Kitty, Ryder, Artie, Sam, Blaine, Tina. It was nostalgic, even though she had been sitting in the same seat six weeks ago.
"100 lessons," Mr Schue said, writing 100 on the board.
"Hey, can I get Finn's plaque when we clear this place out?" Puck asked in a military uniform that looked odd on him.
"No, the plaque stays here. Lillian and Finn belong here at McKinley. It means so much to me that so many of you came back on such short notice to celebrate the past few years. To sit in this room one last time and sing."
That just showed how much of a life Izzy actually had.
"Your assignment is to sing one of the songs we sang in here but reinvented in some way. Way back in the old days when I started the glee club, I would give an assignment, and then I would give a little demonstration of what I was looking for," Mr Schue had a look on his face that said 'Please let me rap.'
"Please don't rap, please don't rap," Izzy whispered loudly enough for everyone to hear.
"Okay, no hip-hop today, Izzy," Mr Schue chuckled. "However, I have asked a very
special person to come join me. And it seemed appropriate since her contributions helped save the glee club, or at least the auditorium way back when.""Please be Holly, please be Holly," Izzy mumbled again.
"Please welcome, all the way from Broadway, Miss April Rhodes!"
Oh. Her.
"Hey, y'all!" April said cheerfully, probably drunk out of her mind.
Izzy tried to hide her grimace, she had never been too fond of April Rhodes. The underage drinking, blatant illegal relationships, and just terrible behaviour for someone her age- Izzy never loved her.
"She taught us how to shoplift meat in my vagina," Tina told a very confused Marley.
April was chatting about some crazy experience she had with a guy that bought her an island when Izzy took a small glance at Sam. She realised quickly that he was staring at her, with both of them immediately breaking eye contact.
April gave a performance of 'Raise Your Glass' even though the New Directions never actually performed it. She was obviously amazing, but Izzy had a place in her heart for Blaine and the Warblers' version. With the number coming to a close, the bell rang and everyone left the choir room.
Well, not everyone.
There they were, not afraid of making eye contact anymore. Improvement? She took several steps to look at him and greet him, her nerves acting up again.
