Off Into the Sunset

    I explained everything to Kimberly.
The NightWings living on the volcanic islands (obviously, not me) and being ruled by a RainWing (I was fine with it) and finally I got to the powers. I explained that NightWings born under one moon had one power, under two had two powers, under three those powers were stronger, and sometimes they could be animus dragons.
When I finished, Kim's eyes were wide. "That's awesome!" She yelled.
"It is. I'm one of the few NightWings with powers though. Because I was born in the rainforest under two moons."
"Two moons...then shouldn't you be able to see the future too?"
"I should." I said sadly. "But I think it's broken or something. I've never had a single vision in my life."
    "Really? Not one?"
"Nothing. I'm okay, really," I said, realizing the look on my friend's face. "sometimes I don't even miss the power. Looking what happened to my friend Moonwatcher...I don't want to go through cryptic prophecies." Even though the last one involved Moonraiser, Macaw, Nightstalker, and possibly me too.

"I guess you're right. Hey! Did you realize how hard it is to get food here?"
"You're changing the subject so I don't get sad, aren't you?"
"Yep. Come on! Which do you want, sheep, cow..."
    "I'll take your second option!"
"So go hunt it! Actually don't because I want to show you something." She hurried off to get whatever this thing was. I shrugged and made a small spot in the shade.
Oh! I'll scare her! Although maybe her heart is too small and it'll get a heart attack...I doubt it. If sca--humans can call themselves things and speak dragon, she has a pretty smart body too. Moons that sounds weird. I crouched in the shadows, curling my wings around me, hiding my purple underbelly. And my swirls, which weren't visible anymore. I covered everything but one of my eyes so I could see.
    "Phantom? Phantom?! Where are you?"
"I'mmmmmmmmmmm heeeeeeerrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeee." I said, stretching the words out. "I'mmmmmmmmm hauuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnntttttiiiiiingggggggggggg yooooooooooouu!"
"Phantomhunter." Kimberly said. She didn't sound scared. Maybe a jump scare would do it.
"BOO!" I leapt out of my hiding spot and earned myself a big shriek from Kimberly.
"Awwww, was Kimberly scared?" I asked sweetly. She slapped my talon, which didn't hurt.
"Just for the record, I was NOT scared," Kimberly said. I was sure her heart was racing. "You didn't scare me."
"Okay, can we just get on with the journey home?"
"I promise you, it's going to be tougher than the journey here."
"What can be tougher than breaking my wing?!"
    "Me."
Then we flew off into the sunset, never to see the island again.
