Number five

In Tanya’s POV

After I introduced toby to john we all ate together. After he taught how to ride bikes and now we have a way of transportation Toby ended up sleeping over at my house to keep me company. The next morning we ate at my house then me and toby went out on our new bikes to see if we could find my parents or any other neighbors but none of them were home.

“where could they be with the power out” Toby asked

“I dont know Toby” I replied

That evening we listened to music and then Toby went home.  I stayed up late listening to the radio around 2 am i got ready for bed. Right before I went to bed I thought about that thing i saw in the bush next to the house I promised myself I would look at it in the morning.

That morning I looked at what it was and was surprised to see it was a NetTab. I wandered how it got there it was on top of the bush like it fell out of a plane or something. I took it inside and charged it up. When I turned it on there was a message:

Tanya, Its your mom things are getting bad we will get you when its safe for now trust john and stay safe anyone can be an enemy even your closest friends.

I jumped back. wow its my mom. I knew then the power outage and the war wasn't the only thing going on.

I took the Message to john and he said we would figure this out together.

“I hope that dosent mean that toby cant be trusted” I said worriedly.

“That cant be it” John said

I said goodbye to john and headed home. I decided to mow the lawn. Our family has a manual lawnmower so I can still run it with the power out.While mowing I think about how long we have went without power about three weeks now. Its crazy how little people me and john have seen in three weeks really only toby and the neighbor that passed away. He wont be the last I thought if power isn't restored soon then there will be many more dead.It saddens me too that there is probably something else going on with my parents and that message. The worst part is I think john knows more than he says he does.

What if i’m the only one who doesn't know about what is going on.
