Taria

It has been three days since the semestral break has started.

Taria, being the life of the party, can be seen jumping from one group of friends to another.

"Hello, Taria!" Their classmate, Geneva Solis, exclaimed and hugged her upon seeing her.

Even though they were classmates, Taria barely have time to chat away like this to them.

The reason of this was because she aimed on acing her subjects and hoped to be included in the Dean's List.

Although her friends sometimes mock her about it, she remained positive about her grades.

It is inevitable that she somehow slipped her grade a little but she was still optimistic about it.

Now that sembreak has began, she promised to let herself relax a little.

In connection with that, she rewarded herself with an out-of-town trip with her buddies from senior high school.

That will be her gift to herself.

A time away from life's stressors.

"I really thought you won't be coming to my party!" Geneva added and she poured me my favorite drink, coke!

Yeah, even if she is in a party, she never drink wine or any alcoholic beverages.

She just doesn't see herself being wasted and getting drunk on the streets and humiliating herself in public.

She waved and smiled to people she knew and engaged herself with one or two conversations with them.

Once she got back to her friends' table, her friend, Cherry Sanchez shook her head while she chewed on her nachos.

"Bumabangka ka na naman, friend!" Angela Baldiviejo commented and Cherry chuckled lightly.

"Eto naman! Hindi ba pwedeng madami lang akong mga friendship?" Taria joked and they shook their heads.

"Oh, ano ganap nyo dyan mga te?" Geneva approached our table while grooving to the upbeat music being played by the DJ. "Bakit hindi ko kayo nakikitang sumayaw? Come on! The night is young!"

"Oh, birthday mo pala! Parang mas madami pa atang kilala si Taria dito sa party mo kesa sayo! hahah!" Cherry remarked and Geneva laughed.

"Si Taria pa ba! She knows her way around everybody because she's charmed her way to them." Geneva nodded in agreement.

"Enebe. Pere keng shere." Taria said pretending to be shy and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Luh. Paveve ang ati!" Angela looked at her  with feigned disbelief.

"Sis! Happy birthday!" A guy about older than their age approached Geneva from behind them.

Geneva exclaimed and hugged the guy when she saw him.

"Hugo! I want you to meet my friends!" Geneva shouted to be heard from the blaring music.

Taria can hear the loud music seemed to subside when she saw him nodded his head.

Why does he looked so sexy in his cool frame?

"These are Cherry, Angela and Taria." Geneva introduced us and Hugo flashed us his killer smile.

He extended his hand for a handshake with Cherry and Angela but he did not do that with Taria.

What he did shocked them.

Hugo kissed Taria's hand instead and Taria tried to act unaffected, but inside, she was panicking and blushing like crazy.

Yes, she had relationships before but they chose to broke up with her.

"It was nice meeting you, girls, and you especially, Taria. " Hugo genuinely said and Taria could feel her face reddening.

"Whoa! I am so vouching for my big bro!" Geneva urged and threw an arm over Taria's shoulder. "His last relationship was ages ago when his ex left him without reason. So, I assure you, my big bro's nice and a one-woman man. "

"Stop with all the mushy praises, sis." Hugo slapped Geneva's arm lightly but even under the dimmed lights, his ears were turning pink.

"Hey-" Cherry was about to say something when the noise turned down and the DJ announced something.

"10 seconds remaining before 2020 ends! Please proceed to the view deck for a better experience!" the DJ announced.

All of them hurried to the viewdeck and Taria didn't know who it was who dragged her there but soon, she found herself admiring the fireworks in front of them.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!"

They all cheered and everyone started hugging one another.

Taria turned to her left to hug and kiss the girls.

She was about to hug the person to her right when she saw who it was.

"Happy New Year, Taria." Hugo whispered and bent down to hug her.

"Besh, pansin mo ba? May nagspark kanina?" They heard Cherry whispered loudly to Geneva and they giggled while looking at them.

Both Taria and Hugo blushed and smiled at each other shyly.

"Mukhang magkakasister-in-law na ako soon!" Geneva commented and the girls cheered in response leaving the couple alone.
