"Come on, Nico," Will took Nico by the elbow and led him away from the growing commotion.
"This is just a mass detention waiting to happen. Some teacher's going to come along any minute now."

Nico said nothing, silently letting Will pull him away in a new direction. This wouldn't have bothered Will, had he not already been in a state of worry because of his continuous silence.

But there was no time to discuss that. Next class was Herbology.

Harry sighed as he dumped his bag on a wooden bench in Greenhouse Nine and flopped down next to it. Malfoy was still chatting with his Slytherin gang outside, so he had maybe a few minutes to talk to Hermione about something that had been bothering him.
He leaned forward and tapped her on the shoulder, but before she could turn around to answer him, the whole class froze as, simultaneously, every plant in the greenhouse that could wither, make a horrible sound, discharge yucky substances or attack something, did so.

Two minutes later, Harry was staring incredulously at the black-haired American boy (his name was probably Nico, but Harry wasn't completely sure), as he attempted to fight off all the violent plants attacking him.

With a sword. A real, bladed sword.
It was black, but then again, so was almost everything else, including the atmosphere, the looks directed at the Americans and Harry's prospect of a calm and peaceful year at school.

Just then Hermione, who had been rubbing a panting Ron's back till now, abandoned her boyfriend and gripped Harry's arm tightly, whispering furiously into his ear:
"Did you see that?!"

Harry was taken aback by her urgent, secretive manner. Was she talking about the sword? Well, it wasn't exactly a secret, everyone could see it, couldn't they?
He said as much to her and was met with an exasperated glance. But before she could begin to explain what it was that was apparently so noteworthy, he saw it.

"What's going on here? All of you were supposed to have been seated in Greenhouse Nine by now! What has gotten into - Oh Merlin!"

Professor Sprout had been having a perfectly good day - until she met her first Eighth Year class. It was all uphill work from there.

It was not enough that she should have to teach demigods this year. It was not enough that she had been warned of these extraordinary pupils only two days ago.
Oh no! Now, one of the students had to have some mortal rivalry with all manner of plants!

Fifteen chaotic minutes later, (ones including laughing, pointing, running, screaming, crying, and lots and lots of hard work – that too mostly on her own part) Professor Sprout glared at her students from inside the locked glass door of Greenhouse Nine.

"Now, Miss Granger and Miss Parkinson will go up to the Headmistress' office and explain exactly why all the Herbology lectures will be cancelled today. And you, Mr Di Angelo, shall go with them and have yourself dealt with. Go on! And the rest of you! Go and do some homework or something. Off with you!"

That was all that needed to be said. With cries of "Yes!" and "Alright!" the Eighth Year class disappeared from their professor's sight within a minute.

Shaking her head, Professor Sprout sighed heavily and set to work.

A/N:
I have nothing to say for myself, except that I humbly beg your pardon for not updating in ages and now that I have, the uploaded chapter being, as it is, an utter disappointment.
But I am back now, so let's hope and pray that I am able to write more. Let's have a moment of silence while we contemplate the horrible things we all will do to me if I don't write a proper chapter very soon.
Thank you, and have a nice life.
