As they were sitting at the table, Caroline's sister was talking... and talking... and talking.

-...and he said I was amazing! But I told him that's not true! But he said yes, I am! That's how I got my pay raise! Oh! Also, I'm next to this really handsome guy, Mason. He is very cute and he always looks at me! I also got all A's today at school and...

"Why can't you just shut the hell up for once..." Caroline was playing with her food, as both of her parents were listening to her older sister.

-That's so great honey! I'm so proud of you! And what about you, Caroline? Any good grades? Boys? Maybe new friends?

Caroline looked up from her plate, looking at her mother, then back down.

-No..but I found a really nice leaf today!

The smile of her mother withered down a little before forcing a smile.

-That's...great honey!

She looked like she tried to collect other words to say, but no words seemed to came out. She looked at Caroline's father for help, who didn't even pay attention, so he just looked around at the three girls, confused.

That was enough for Caroline, she simply stood up and left the family dinner, going to her room.

Time went slow as she was doing her homework, laying in bed and starring at the ceiling. That's when she heard her mother talking about her in her parent's room. She sneaked out quietly and pushed her ear against their door.

-Rob, I don't know what to do with her...she is so...hopeless.. She never showed us any of her friends, she never talked about any boys she liked, she never talks about her grades... are we doing something wrong? She has no interest!

-Calm down honey, she is just...different...let's hope she changes with the teenage years.

-But what if she won't?

The room went quiet and stayed like that. Caroline was just sitting there, looking at the ground. "Am I really that hopeless?"
