Who are you?

Walking down the hall to the dining room, I couldn't help but notice the once dark hall is now full of color. I also noticed a lot of changes in the house, it now has a feminine touch to it. I don't know if I was happy or sad about it. We sat down with Vincenzo and I on one side and her and my father on the other. I have to admit, the food looks and smells amazing.

Vincenzo thanked her for cooking and started to pour. She looked at him with a glare as if he had done something wrong. Of course me being protective of him I said something. "Why are you looking at him like that? Do we have a problem?". The minute I said that I felt the biggest stomp on my foot from my father, signaling me to shut up. She looked at me and said, "We usually pray before we eat". Vincenzo and I looked at each other and bursted out laughing.

"Since when does my father pray?" Vincenzo asked. My father made a snarky remark and said, "Ever since I met her, I started believing in God again". I rolled my eyes, and I guessed the little blonde girl saw it. She just gave me a dirty look. Vincenzo sat down and asked the blonde girl, "So, um, who even are you?" She looked at us as if we were supposed to know who she was. She looked at us, then our father and said, "You didn't tell them?" He looked at her and shook his head and said "No, Baby, I didn't". She looked at us and commented, "My name is Kristina, I'm your dad's fiancé", as she smiled.

Without hesitation Vincenzo looked her in the eyes and stated, "HE is not our DAD, dads are people who stick around and raise you. He is our father, fathers are men who just have children". She looked at me as if she wanted me to disagree, but she was mistaken. I then added "He's not wrong". She looked at us with a frown, like she felt pity for us.

"No need to frown" I spat out. "Our father abandoning us made both Vincenzo and I stronger. We fought for ourselves, had to learn everything the hard way, and came along pretty much all the dead ends. We turned out alright though, no thanks to our father" I said. I felt my body begin to shake and my face getting red and hot. "I'm not in the right mindset to be here right now, please excuse me" I said while practically running out the double doors I had came in.

When I finally felt the breeze hit my face, tears started falling down my cheeks. I don't think I will ever truly get over my father abandoning us as kids, or the mental and physical abuse he gave after my mom had passed. My mind and heart aren't ready to open that wound just yet.

I suddenly feel someone staring holes into my back, I slowly turned around and Luca was there. I wiped my tears away fast so that he wouldn't view me as weak. He ran to me and picked me up while twirling me around, causing a faint smile to appear on my face. "What's wrong Val?" He frowned. "Just having a weak moment " I added, shrugging it off as if I wasn't crying two minutes ago. "You know you don't have to always be tough? It's okay to be upset sometimes, it doesn't make you less then." He told me reassuring me. "I know" I said shrugging.

Luca looked at me with puppy eyes, "Does someone need a hug?" "No" I snapped. I HATE being touched in anyway possible, and he knew it. Before giving me time to run he scooped me up and gave me the biggest bear hug. Luca has always been my person. He's been my first love, first outside the family friend, and someone that does dangerous stuff with me. No one can ever come close in replacing Luca.
