Ok so this one is super controversial but for this ship is on I love and hate it very much because.
For the most part, Their story happened off the page. We never witnessed their first meeting; we never saw them slowly but surely falling for one another nor did we see their eventual wedding Or their deaths. I
t was a sub-plot: something happening in the background, I honestly have a love-hate relationship with this ship because it is cute and I like the idea of it but overall I just don't ship this as an end-game ship.
One thing I find strange is the 13 year age gap. Between the two and the fact the remains probably knew her as a child through her cousin Sirius. Now if they did not meet until Tonks herself was well into adulthood [In her 20s] then I guess 13 years is nothing.
IM a BIG believer in you need to learn to love yourself. Before you can truly love another person! And from what we see Reamus does not love himself at all he thinks of himself as less than and doesn't believe he is deserving of love and that no one could ever truly love him like in the way Lilly loves James or the way James loves Lilly. IS a big part of why I don't like this ship because how can Remus truly love tonks for all of her if he cants even love himself.
Now also back to the age Gap thing now Tonks in herself and away from everybody else is she loves to have fun and is very Carefree, spunky and independent but she's also very mature for her age but when it comes to Remus I've noticed she's very immature as compared to Remus Lupin who is very closed off at end very mature and not truly the way you used to be because of what happened to both Sirius and James and the Betrayal of Peter which we learn up in the third book in my opinion there both to Different to last so if they survived I highly doubt their marriage would have survived and more than likely would have ended in divorce or and them both being miserable for the rest of their lives and fighting constantly in my opinion they were in the middle of a war and they were both high off of emotions and impulses.
And like I was saying I think l would ship them a lot more if it weren't for the times we do see them together tonks is acting like a child and not the badass we all know she is and she starts looking for validation of a man like when she started changing her. appearance in hopes that Remus would notice her. Or when bill was injured after Dumbledore's death and they didn't know if he was going to make it or if he was going to turn into a werewolf and everyone was worried for him she was upset because Remus won't be with her. Or when they both Decided that Remus would help harry and the order and Tonks would stay with THERE SON.she left without telling her mother who was lucky wating with them for Remus and harry and the others to come and tell them the war was over that they were safe she took off because she couldn't be without him so instead of waiting with her son during a war she went after her husband who both of them decided that she would stay with their son to protect him well he went to go help Harry and the order I feel like that was a selfish discussion that as a mother you don't get to make and I kinda lost all respect for her in that moment
Now I get it to, believe me, I do Unrequited love it sucks and its heartbreaking believe me I thought this kind of heartbreak a lot of times in my own life but I never allowed that to change me and I think tonks character was Destroyed my JK rolling and it makes me so mad because I would have loved this ship of not for the way it went about being portrayed. After all, they have their cute moments but I was also not only turned off this ship for tonks character that was ruined but besides that their relationship lacks consent Remus on multiple occasions told her he wasn't interested but she kept on perusing but if it was reversed and Remus was the one pursuing tonks and SHE on multiple occasions told him no and that she wasn't interested all fucking Hell would break loose and the fandom would be in chaos but sure gender equality appressed females.
So all in all I can't stand this ship after JK ruined it completely because she sucks at writing her endgame ships. But I allow it because then we would not have a teddy.
