Arguably, the university was much better than being stuck at home. Our tiny apartment on the second floor of my dad's restaurant meant that we didn't have a separate room. My twin brothers, South and North Korea shared a room. My dad and my handicap mother shared one and consequently I shared a room with my step brother, Vietnam. In my dorm room, I only had to share the whole complex with one other girl. She was also in the first year and her name was Columbia. She was professor Spain's granddaughter and she loved coffee, because she grew up near plantations. She was also amazed at the amount of space we had. I struck out on my own as soon as we came to the university, preferring to stay away from my brothers. Soon enough, I found a burly and sarcastic guy in one of my classes and we started to talk. Just like that. I came up to him and we just started to talk about the university. His name was Russia and I had the nagging feeling that he would fall in love with someone and soon, told me my soothsayer powers. He introduced me to his cold and slow friend, Iceland and then we met Germany. He was the funniest and most shy person I've met. I instantly knew that Russia would eventually like him. And I told him so. Of course, the gifted are always rejected. Nonetheless, I was happy that they finally came together. Russia became less gruff and sarcastic and Germany was less shy and mumbly. For some reason, they asked for me to keep their relationship a secret. I, of course, heeded to their wishes, but it seemed irrational. At the moment, I was listening to one of Iceland's adventures on a mountain cliff. I have to say, it's kind of boring; my father scaled mount Everest twice.
"And so," he was in the middle of his thrilling adventure. "I was on the cliff face and about to fall...and then..." I yawned loudly. He seemed annoyed that I didn't pay attention to his story.
"Sorry Iceland," I yawned again. "It's pretty boring after my dad's escape from a clouded leopard."
"I'm sorry I'm not as cool as your dad." He huffed. I had to giggle.
"He's hard to beat." I nodded. "But he still can't keep everyone in my family under control."
"How many siblings do you have?"
"Two twin brothers and a step brother. But me, North and South Korea are all the same age. That makes us impossible to have quiet and behaving. My older step brother is too quiet and too behaving. He's kind of weird and keeps to himself. But he can sway my dad's opinion pretty easily."
"Sounds like a memorable bunch of people you are," he smirked. "My family is the opposite. We're all quiet. Not so much behaving though."
"You don't have to be behaving and quiet. Look at Russia. Prime example. He listens to what his father tells him, but he's not going to sit down and shut up when he's told to by someone else." I pointed out.
"Speaking of whom, what's the matter with Russia anyway?" He questioned. Well, time to use my super talking skills to worm out of the conversation.
"Hey look! A bird!" I yelled randomly, pointing at the sky. Several people on the benches around us turned and looked and then giggled and went back to their business. I, in turn, kept hopping around, generally make a fool of myself and running after the imaginary bird. Iceland, with his long stride, had no trouble keeping up with me.
"Where's the bird?" He asked, squinting.
"Okay. It flew away now." I panted. He looked at me with a strange expression and suspicion made his red gaze sharper.
"You're not telling me something Japan." He said slowly.
"Yes, I'm not." I told him passively. My mother's old trick would come in handy now. Stay simply calm, as if everything was planned to be a horrible failure and hat you have a grandiose plan B.
