Soyoung grabbed the handle and opened the door of Sunshine Café, a little bell ringing to announce her arrival.

She turned her head to look around for empty tables, her long, brown hair flipping in the movement. Soyoung raised her eyebrows when she saw a familiar figure in the corner.

'Hyunjin! I didn't expect you to be here this early.' She said, taking a seat across the black haired boy who looked up at her when she spoke.

'I live nearby.' He shrugged, dullness in his voice.

'Just admit it, I scared you with my text.' Soyoung teased, trying to cheer him up. She barely succeeded - the corners of his mouth tugged upwards but only a little.
'Did you order already?'

When the boy shook his head, Soyoung stood up.
'Then I'm gonna order for both of us. What do you want to drink?'

By the time she came back, Hyunjin already took out a notebook and a pen from his bag and was on his phone. She observed the ugly white cast on his left arm, starting from his palm and going up to his elbow. Yeah, that doesn't look good.

'Let's start, shall we?' She grimaced, already throwing up at the idea of studying in her precious freetime.

'Did you pay for this?' Hyunjin took a sip from his drink, ignoring her question.

'Yeah. You can pay me back in cash on every Monday and Thursday between 10 AM and 5 PM.'
When the boy just stared at her with a blank face, she bursted out laughing.
'Just kidding, you don't have to pay me back at all.'

'You have a very bad sense of humor.' He raised one of his eyebrows then put his phone down.
'I was thinking we can write about the Joseon dynasty, how people lived back then. The national palace museum has a big collection of stuff from that time.'

'That's a decent idea. How about we do the tasks on this sheet first? We'll go to the museum next week, write the essay at home separately and we're basically finished in a week.'
Hyunjin nodded unenthusiastically then grabbed his task sheet from his bag.

Soyoung ran her eyes through her own one, observing the tasks filling both sides and sighed.
'First question: Who was the second king to reign in Balhae era? Oh, my fu-'

Two hours was a way longer time than what the two would like to spend on a task sheet but since both of them were bad at history, they were slow to answer the questions.

'Finally.' Soyoung banged her head into the table with a sigh.
'I was starting to think we wouldn't finish this before midnight.'

Hyunjin just scrunched his nose as a response then opened his notebook.
'I'm free all day so I'll start writing my part of the essay. You can go home if you want.'

Soyoung thought about it for a minute then shrugged.
'I'm that person who has nothing to do most of the time, so I'll stay if you don't mind.'
She wiggled her eyebrows playfully but didn't get any reactions, much to her dismay.

Hyunjin clicked his pen as he started thinking about what to write. Soyoung averted her eyes from the boy and it landed on his motionless left arm in the cast, resting on the table between them.

'Can I draw on your cast?' She asked, eyeing the plain white material.

'If you want to.' The boy shrugged.
He finally stopped clicking his pen and started writing into his notebook.

'Any restrictions?'  The girl already imagined various patterns and little drawings decorating the object, her three years of advanced art classes not going to vain.

'Appropriate for school.'

Fair enough thought the girl then grabbed her pencil case, looking for her markers. She scooted closer to Hyunjin, her right hand gently wrapping around the boy's forearm (not like it would move) while she grabbed a black marker with her left hand.

Her marker started drawing lines then she colored the empty places between the lines. She smeared the ink with her fingers in some places, making the drawing look more realistic.

Soyoung observed her work with a satisfied smile. It was a win-win situation. She got to create art and she hoped Hyunjin would cheer up everytime he looked at his cast - and since it was going to be on him for the next 5 weeks, it would result in a very happy Hyunjin.

She turned to Hyunjin, wanting to ask him about her drawing when she heard light snores. He was asleep. That explains why he was awfully quiet during the whole time.

Soyoung lightly tapped the boy's shoulders who's head was resting on his right arm in the table.
He immediately woke up, rubbing his eyes.
'Damn, did I fall asleep? What time is it?'

'Around 6 PM. Well, how do you like your cast?'

Hyunjin frowned but then something clicked in and he raised his left arm a little, looking at it. His eyes widened in surprise. Then he frowned, looking back at Soyoung.
'Shoeprints? '

The girl nodded and he continued observing his decorated cast.
'It kinda looks like someone stepped on my arm.'

The girl nodded again with a sly smile, hiding the fact that this was one of her intentions while drawing.

'So you take art classes for this, huh.' Hyunjin put down his casted arm and leant on it, tilting his head.
Soyoung gasped and slapped his shoulder, earning a small laugh from him.
'Kidding, it's cool. It looks kinda real.'

'Thanks. Anyways we should get going now. My butt hurts from sitting for so long.'

'I didn't need to know that.' The boy grimaced and the two started packing their things.
