When Soyoung arrived to the gate of her school at 8:58 PM on Friday, she was actually surprised to see Hyunjin already standing there wearing black jeans and a black hoodie.
"I thought you will back out in the last minute." She spoke as she approached him, the boy's semi-long hair falling into his face as he looked up to meet her eyes.
"I'm not the type to back out." He puffed his chest lightly, standing up taller. However, the truth was that it wasn't about him not wanting to back out - the boy just didn't really care anymore what was happening.
Soyoung shrugged, choosing to stay silent instead of responding - she didn't know how to respond anyway. She started walking down the street, Hyunjin quietly following her.
For 5 minutes, only the noise of cars passing by and the screams of cats fighting in the bushes could be heard, then the girl turned to him curiously.
"You won't even ask where are we going to?""No."
"That's the spirit!"
She patted his shoulder, making the boy tense from the sudden move.
"Only if you want to get kidnapped, though." She added with a grin which went unnoticed by him because of the lack of light in the dark street."You're annoying." He grumbled.
"You insisted on coming so you knew what you were signing up for."
"I insisted on coming so I can try out doing graffiti not talk to you."
"You should've read the contract more carefully, then."
"Shut up." He mumbled, not wanting to argue.
"Sucks to be you, I can't shut up for more than 5 minutes."
However, she did shut up for the rest of the walk, which was more than 5 minutes. She didn't quite understand the boy's sudden enthusiasm towards her graffiti then his grumpy mood now that they were about to take action. Still, she figured it was the best if she didn't question it.Hwang Hyunjin was a mistery that she wasn't ready to solve yet.
"Look, we're here." Soyoung stopped after 10 minutes of walking in silence. She looked around with a small but very much genuine smile.
"Welcome to my little outdoor workshop."Hyunjin also stopped in his track, running his eyes through their surroundings. They were in a somehow deserted area of the city, locked depots everywere, only the blue, dim moonlight illuminating them.
Most of the depots' walls were painted plain grey or white, only dirt decorating them. Some had also some unpretentious graffiti on them, made in hurry with no conception.
The whole area screamed dullness and loneliness (and a little bit of shadiness), and the boy couldn't imagine how Soyoung found comfort in this place.
However he changed his mind as soon as he noticed two depots with colorful, detailed drawings on their walls, gracefully standing out from the boring crowd. And they didn't just stand out, they were also somewhat lighting up the area, even though they didn't actually emit light.
He slowly walked around the buildings. Some patterns were flowers, some were various geometric shapes and there were also a few small animals but every single of them was very colorful- kind of contrasting Soyoung's personality (and wardrobe).
"Do you like them?" The girl stepped behind him, looking at her own graffiti.
"Some looks awful, gotta admit that.""I heard using graffiti is very hard."
