"I said I don't understand!"

"I said you will if you stop acting like a brat."

"Let me go!"

"No."

I woke up, gasping and looking around. Beads of sweat slid down my face as I tried to control my breathing. I was clutching the sheets, and my body was on edge. Breath in. Breath out. I looked around the room. Still dark, still cold. Guess that's what happens when you live in a castle in a mountain covered in snow. The window was sealed shut, a way to stop my inevitable escape.

"You awake di Angelo?"

I decided not to answer. Instead, I held my breath and waited. The person waiting behind the door didn't say anything else, and I assumed that they had walked away. I quietly pulled the sheets off of my body and tip-toed towards the far wall. Something in this place had physically stopped my abilities from being able to melt into the shadows and escaping this hell hole.

The ground was cold as I walked over to the locked window. It wasn't just boarded, it was sealed shut with steel and some other metal I didn't learn about back in the Hephaestus cabin. I tried to grab at it again, but it didn't budge, just like the last 24 times I had tried. I huffed and walked back over to the bed, sitting down with my hands folded. I was never going to get out of here.

Knock knock

I turned towards the door. It opened for just a moment, a small tray sliding into the room. I could feel my powers for just a moment, and acting on instinct, I melted into the shadows, going wherever they would take me.

Sadly, it wasn't far.

I was right outside of the wall. I could look up and see my room, but I was too busy running to. I was wearing a t-shirt, the most ripped-ripped jeans that the planet could produce, and Ugg boots. Baby it was cold outside. I rubbed my arms with the opposite hands as I tried to look for an escape route. Going down the big cliff? Not an option. Going down the mountain, which would take longer and possibly end me? Now that was a good option. I semi-jogged in that direction, shivering while listening to the chattering of my teeth.

I made it halfway down before I couldn't walk anymore. Apparently, my powers didn't really work on this mountain as I could only go a few feet at a time. AND, whenever I finished my jump, I got even colder. My legs had eventually given up on me and I collapsed in the snow, feeling it gently land on my face and body. I was about to close my eyes when a face appeared over me.

"Well, you got down farther than last time." I blinked and sighed, seeing my breath freeze in front of me.

"Just... let me..." I closed my eyes for a second, losing consciousness. My body was frozen, and I couldn't feel it. I drifted off, my heartbeat slowed.

"You should really learn to use those neurons in your head." I groaned as I sat up. I was laying on the floor in front of a large fireplace. I felt warm, but parts of my body were still cold.

"Why'd you come and get me?" I asked, hugging my cold frame. I had a blanket wrapped around me, but my body still felt the cold touch of the snow.

"You're my property until you're able to leave." Ra's was being stubborn as ever. I huffed and tightened the blankets around me.

"I'm not property." My teeth chattered as I spoke. Ra's handed me a mug and I stubbornly took it. I took a sip of the warm liquid, humming as it warmed my throat. I looked back up at Ra's, then looked back down at the mug. "How long do I have to be here?"

"Long enough for me to determine that you are not a threat. You just came back to life you know. You could still be dangerous to human life."

"Who would I hurt?"

"The real question is, where would you go?" I scoffed.

"I'd go hom—"

"And where is that? With a crazed clown? At a camp full of murder mini-gods? Your actual home in Italy? Where, where would you go?" I looked away from Ra's and gazed into the fire, clutching the mug harder than before."

"I'd just go home." I sat and moved from my position on the floor. I walked over to one of the large windows and opened it. Unlike the windows in my room, these ones weren't sealed by steel. "Why is it so cold out? I mean, it's just snowing right?"

"If you truly wanted to escape, you would have worn better clothes." I chuckled dryly.

"Yeah, yeah maybe."
