CHAPTER 5
ED'S POV:
Noël ran into the room as Mel and I were finishing the dishes.
"What you guys do on your second date?" She panted as she ran up next to us.
Mel looked at me.
"Well... We... OH! We went to meet my management." I recalled.
"Who's management?" She asked.
"Management were people that controlled like where I went to sing, who I had interviews with, and who I dated." I told her as I dried my hands and started heading towards the living room.
"So that's why you took mummy? To see if it was okay to date her even though she was 17?" She asked.
Shit.
That's exactly what I told Harry not to tell her.
"Well, I didn't know that yet." I said simply.
She grunted in realization as she trotted off to her room where Harry was.
*FLASHBACK*
When I had finally saw the girl that had been depicted in her twitter profile picture, I suddenly felt nervous and awkward to talk to her. I felt as if that I would ruin the whole thing right there and then.
She looked pretty nervous as well because when she walked up to me, it looked like she was going to run away.
But after we had clumsily started our conversation when she first joined me in my hotel room but I knew I wanted to keep her forever.
When I invited her on out next date, she reluctantly said 'yes'. As if she was forced to. I didn't know what was going through her mind, so I stuck to my guns. I never would've thought she was hiding something.
So, I wanted to get to get the relationship approved by the judgmental, critiquing, and bipolar Management. I didn't know if Melanie was on board with me or not, but I thought that I would awkwardly throw the idea of the relationship at her while the Management decides if they approve of her.
When I brought her into my tour bus where my managers were waiting.
"What are we doing, Ed?" She questioned as we walked across the parking lot.
"We're going to... Uh... What do you think about being my girlfriend?" I threw out there.
She looked stunned, furrowing her eyebrows. She licked her lips in thought.
"Hm... Does that question have anything to do with what we're doing now?" She was slowly realizing what was going on.
"Yeah, we're going to my Management. To see if they like you." I explained.
She laughed, "I have to be approved?"
I laughed too. "Not by my standards, by Management's standards."
"Uh-huh... This is your idea of a date?" She said as I opened the door.
"Um... We could eat if you want." I suggested. "Or we can watch something after they leave."
"Okay."
When we entered the bus, my team was awaiting us, sitting in the usual seats.
"Everyone, this is Melanie." I introduced her.
"Melanie, very nice to meet you." my head manager named Stuart got out of my black leather couch to greet her.
"Pleasure's mine." Melanie smiled.
"So, tell us about yourself!" Stuart suggested.
"Well... I live in a pretty small apartment with a low-end job in a cubicle." She told them as they creepily took notes.
"What's your last name?" Stuart asked.
"Gustafson." She said, "Melanie Gustafson."
"Uh-huh, how old are you again?" Stuart continued.
She hesitated but said, "19..."
"Perfect. So, you don't mind us doing a background check, do you?"
"You really need to do that, Stuart?" I grimaced, thinking how uncomfortable I would feel if someone asked me that.
"Yes, Ed, it's for the best." He reasoned, I looked at Melanie. She seemed like she didn't care.
I sighed, giving in.
"Well, you seem pretty good so far, we'll just do the background check ad you can bring your relationship out!" Stuart cheered as all of his posse stood up to leave.
"It was nice to meet you!" Melli said happily.
Then I was satisfied as we walked out to get lunch.
