if you consider yourself a non-asian fan of anime, kpop, asian food or any element of asian culture, if you are actively enjoying and benefitting from asian culture, speak up!!! please stand by us!!! obviously human decency and doing the right thing should always be the primary motive but it's not fair for people to indulge in, benefit from and even (sometimes) steal or fetishise our culture and then not stand up for the people who this culture belongs to
if you care about our cultures at all, you need to care about the people too. it's not fair for you to enjoy these things that asians offer while not speaking up when asians are harassed, assaulted and killed on. why? because it makes you uncomfortable? try to imagine how the asian community feels
i'm not gatekeeping anything i'm not saying you can't enjoy these things. you need to stand up and defend the people behind them. you can't stay silent, please let us know that you stand with us.
