"Why won't you go to him!?"
An angry Sing asks. Ash doesn't respond, he's too memorized by the letter he's holding in his hand.
"He's going back to Japan today!"
"I know,." Ash finally answers, slightly looking down.
"Then why? You're his friend-"
"That's exactly why!" Ash cuts him off.
"I'm returning him to his own world, this world of killing... he doesn't belong here!" He angrily shouts, his fists balled up.
"But there isn't any time left.." Sing starts to say, but Ash already turned away.
"Want me to give him a message?" He quickly shouts, trying to keep Ash from leaving. When he doesn't respond, Sing finally breaks.
"You stubborn idiot!" He yells as he runs away, leaving Ash alone. He sits on a bench, contemplating if he should read the letter or not. He knows he shouldn't, but the little voice in the back of his head isn't going anywhere. So he does, the first thing he pulled out is a plane ticket. Slightly confused, he pulled out the letter. It read,
"Ash I'm worried to death because I haven't been able to see you doing well."
Ash paused, feeling slightly guilty. He didn't mean to worry him. He just wants to keep him safe.
"You said we live in different worlds. But is that true? We have different colored skin, eyes. We were born in different countries. But we're friends. Isn't that what counts?"
'Friends' Ash narrowed his eyes on this word. He didn't know why it bothered him so much. Maybe it's because he didn't consider him one? No no, that's not it. Eiji has been the greatest thing that ever happened to him. Then why? Could it be that he feels something more for him?
"I'm really glad I came to America. I met lots of people. And more than anything, I met you." Ash could've sworn he felt his heart skip a beat. Is it just him, or is it getting hot out here?
"You asked me over and over if you scared me. But I never feared you, not once. What's more is you're hurt much more than me. I couldn't help feeling that way. Funny huh? You're way smarter, bigger, and stronger than me. But I always felt like I had to protect you." Ash immediately stood up, eyes starting to glisten. That sentence shook him to the core. He couldn't just let him go now. Not after everything they've been through. Before he knew it, he was running down the cold New York City streets, heading towards the airport. Slightly tripping over the snow covered pavement. Eyes still glued to the letter as he continued reading.
"I wonder what it is I wanted to protect you from. You told me once about a leopard you read in a book. How you believed that leopard knew that it couldn't go back. And I said you weren't a leopard, that you could change your destiny." Before Ash could even finish reading the last few sentences, he heard a loud honk. Looking up, he realized that he was in the middle of a street. The gaze of the bright red traffic light haunting him. How did he not notice?
"Watch out!" He heard someone yell. He looked to his right, a delivery truck was heading towards him full speed. But Ash didn't panic, for he was never scared of death.
'So this is it huh?' He thought. He lifted up his arm and read the last part of the letter.
"You're not alone. I'm by your side. My soul is always with you." Ash smiled. With that, he was ready to accept his fate.
"I said watch it dumbass!" Before he knew it, Ash was thrown to the ground. A body landed on top of his. He looked up, the person was......Sing!?
"You could've gotten yourself killed idiot!"
    "How did you-?"
"I came back for you! I couldn't just let Eiji leave without you at least saying goodbye!" Sing looked down.
"He looked so sad when you didn't show up at the airport with everyone else. Even Bones looked disappointed!"
"I was on my way there! I read Eiji's letter, it made me realize that I couldn't just let him go! I need him in my life..."
"Then hurry up! His flight leaves in 15 minutes!." Sing got off of Ash and offered him his hand. Ash took it.
"Follow me, I know a quicker way there." Ash nodded and ran alongside Sing. This was it, Ash would finally be able to see Eiji again. He had so much to tell him. Ash wanted to tell him how sorry he was, how much he missed him, and how much he....liked him? That wasn't quite right. Ash was still confused with his feelings. Hopefully when he figures it out, he can tell him. Eiji was a great listener afterall! He always comforted Ash when he was confused or hurt.
'I can't wait to see him again.'
