Chapter 10 - goodbyes and Neji

Lying on the bed is a worn-out Haruko, who was attached to a heart monitor. In her arms was my new brother, Neji.

"Hizashi-kun, Mitsu-chan I'd like you to say hello to our newest member in the family," she told us with ragged breaths.

"Haruko-chan, save your breath, you need to focus on recovering right now," dad said in his soothing tone.

Haruko gave her new son a small sad smile before turning to face us. I tilted my head to the side, why is she looking at us like that?

"Gomen'nasai ........ Hizashi ...... kun, ........ Mitsu ........... chan ........ I won't ......... be ...... ab ..... le ......... to ............ continue ......... making
............ memories ............. with ............ you," she said sadly. She then gestured to the baby in her arms, "here, ........ his ......... name ......... is ..
.......... Neji ...... Hyuga."

My dad carefully takes Neji from Haruko-chan's arm before looking back at her. "Haru-chan, I love you," he told her silent tears streaming down his face.

Haruko then locked eyes with mine "Mitsu ........ chan, ....... take .......... care .......... of ....... your ........ brother ........... and ......... know ....... that
........ I ......... love ......... you."

I felt something on my cheeks, touching my face I realized I was crying, "I will, I promise to take care of him and be the best nee-chan for him."

"Mitsu ...... chan ........ could ............ you .......... sing ............ me ............
.... one ........ last ....... song ........ I ....... love .......... hearing ......... you ....
........ sing," she requested in a barely audible voice.

My breathing quickens, "I will sing My Wish I made it for when my otouto would be born." I grasp my necklace and close my eyes, taking a deep breath before I begin to sing.
