A shaky breath escaped my lips as I stepped out into the open area, my breath fogging in the cool breeze as his all too familiar figure stepped out of the shadows.

"Sapnap."

"Brangwen."

We stood there for a moment, the only thing between us was silence as he leaned up against a nearby tree, his arms folded in front of him, and a cocky smirk upon his lips as trouble gleamed in his eyes.

"You know, sweetie, I'm not dumb enough to believe that's your real name." He grinned, before stepping closer, causing me to take a cautious step back.

"And I'm not as much of an idiot to fall for your tricks." I snapped back as he continued to get closer, causing me to still back up, until my back hit the nearby wall of the castle.

"Mhmm," He hummed before cupping my face in his calloused hand and bringing his face closer to mine, his breath fanning upon my lips as his own parted.

"Let's test that theory, shall we?"

"You rule over the surrounding lands, and yet, all I see is a puny leader. Too afraid to face the war he started."

I held the novel between my hands, my fingers trailing over the torn and crumpled pages, looking up at Techno, I gave him a confused stare, waiting for him to explain. He let out a soft sigh, his shoulders sagging slightly, lifting a hand to the back of his head he gently rubbed the back of his head before reaching out and plucking the book from my grasp once more.

"This..." He spoke softly, glancing between the book and me, "Is where we came from, the others and I, I mean."

Tilting my head in a confused manner, I signaled for him to go on, causing him to let out a soft laugh, "Not while the children are here, I'm not going to tell you the story, just yet."

I threw my head back and let out a groan of annoyance causing the kids to laugh, "Fine fine, but look at you, finally warming up to the kids!"

He let out a snort, "Mhmm, for now that is."
Rolling my eyes playfully, I slugged him upon the shoulder lightly, "C'mon you goof, we need to talk to the others about the other day."

He fell silent at my words, before directing his gaze away from me, "Can the kids at least finish braiding my hair?" He pleaded softly as he brought out the puppy eyes.

"Yeah yeah, they can finish," I smiled before hauling myself up onto my feet, "When they're done, come find me, alright?"
"Mhmm.."

Sending my goodbyes to the children and giving Techno a final wave away, I stepped out of the calming room, the hallways not as bustling as before, but still running rampant with children. A soft sigh escaped my lips as I strolled through the halls, a smile upon my lips as I watched the children run and play about without a care in the world.

It wasn't until I had rounded the corner did dread fill my bones as I saw the all too familiar short stature of a man standing across the hallway from me. "Hello, honey." He purred as he stepped forward and rested a gentle finger underneath my chin before landing a soft boop to my nose.

"You can't get rid of me for that long, you know that, right?"

"Leave Alex. I mean it, go." I whispered softly, as I froze in my spot, my heart pounding in my ears as he gingerly leaned forward and whispered in my ear, sending chills down my spine.

"We will be together again, my love." He growled, before landing a harsh grip upon my arm, "The lord brought us together, we just need one more sacrifice my love, and all will be good once more."

I tore myself away from his grasp, causing a scowl to grow across his features before quickly giving a sickly sweet smile, "Do not fret my dear," He grinned before slipping back into the shadows of the hallway, "You will accept how things are meant to be, sooner or later that is."

Shivers ran up and down my spine, and the hair upon my neck stood on end, oh dear lord, what had happened to the man I once loved?
