While Aaron called Jessica to come for Jack, you went upstairs and began packing your things. He followed quickly thereafter, stripping himself of the t-shirt he was wearing and starting to put on his suit ensemble.
"So, why did Strauss have to get involved in this one?" You ask, both of you getting dressed. It was unusual for her to call Aaron directly with cases. They usually came from JJ.
"Apparently someone reached out to her. The case passed through a lot of hands before it got to us" he responds as he buttons up his shirt.
"Did she say who?" You question.
"I don't think she was in the mood to give specifics" he replies. Of course not. Strauss wasn't in that habit of explaining herself to anyone, much less Aaron.
"Just as well. I wouldn't want to stay on the phone with her any longer than I had to."
"You hate her, don't you?" He asks. He looks almost surprised.
You didn't have much experience with her personally. Just small interactions during team meetings and your yearly interviews. Needless to say, she wasn't the most pleasant woman you'd ever met.
But when you had joined the team, Strauss was even harder on Aaron than everyone else. She still was, for seemingly no reason other than her undying belief that he wasn't capable of his job.
"Well, I wouldn't say hate" you shrug "I just really, really, really, really dislike her. Like, a lot." You watch as he bites his lips in a failed attempt to stifle his amused smile.
"And why is that?" He says while pulling on a grey suit jacket.
"Well, she hates me, for starters."
"She treats everyone that way. She doesn't hate you" he corrects. "After all, she's the one that assigned you to the team."
"Doesn't mean she likes me" you argue back. "And besides, the worse thing she did happened before I even got here."
"Really?" He asks, looking up at you as you walked towards him "and what's that?"
"She tried to get rid of my favorite unit chief" you smile, taking a hold of his collar and pulling him down to plant a firm kiss on his lips.
You remembered exactly how odd the team dynamic was when you arrived. Gideon freshly gone and Strauss, for some reason, on the warpath to get rid of Hotch. One of the first times you had a real conversation outside of work with Emily was when she explained why he was so much more uptight than he usually was, and assuring you he would lighten up eventually.
"Your favorite, huh?" He mumbles, smiling with amusement against your lips.
"Yep. The best one I know" you nod.
"Y/n, I'm the only unit chief you know" he points out.
"Listen, do you want the title or not?" You ask playfully, pulling away from the kiss but still holding onto him.
"Fine, I'll take it" he relents "come on, we've got to get going soon."
You quickly follow him as he walks into the closet, looking over his selection of ties.
"Do you want to pick one?" He asks, noticing you surveying the rack.
"You already know I do." Flicking through the selection, you select a red designer tie. You notice that the majority of ties he owned were impressively expensive. More importantly, he looked good in all of them.
"Here, let me" you request, wrapping the tie around the collar of his shirt and beginning to tie it. You focus intently as you try to remember how he taught you to do it. In the end, it loosely resembles a normal tie, but it looks a bit messier.

Fanfic"And what if I don't?" You ask defiantly. He comes up closer to you at that remark, close enough so you're the only one that could hear him. Close enough that he hovers over you, pressing your back against the wall. "Then, I'd pull you into the bath...
