"We can't.. We just can't. We can't let them! What would our purpose be then?! T-They're taking away our purpose to live. Can't you see?"

"No, ___. I can't see. But he made a point. It's their fate, not ours."

"Ma Cherie, to understand 'zis world is to understand us. I am sure 'ou 'ave noticed we are not exactly.. Human." He muttered under his breath, nervously chuckling as he carefully eyed the female's expressions, studying her features in case he saw the slightest glint of recognition. He truly needed to see if she wasn't some spy for those.. things that even have the audacity to call themselves human. Yet seeing none, his arched brow had relaxed, as his lips parted slightly to release a soft, yet exaggerated sigh.

Our dear human, on the other hand, couldn't follow. It had taken her minutes to even notice the mere fact his large, gloved hand had hovered over hers, the familiar– well, at least something similar to it, overwhelmed both her body and mind. As it finally sunk in, she couldn't help but feel her cheeks flush into deep shades of red, her chest beginning to tighten, lungs beginning to drown in its lack of oxygen. God, what was happening to her? What was happening with him? If anyone caught sight of this, anyone she thought had any authority at the very least would, forgive her French, fuck them over. Endearing, it was, it made her feel.. comforted, in a way. Though, public signs of physical displays weren't exactly approved by society unless it were a family member or a spouse.

With narrowed eyes, his eyes averted his gaze away to a painting from the distance, a set of humans that seemed awfully familiar, despite the female not knowing who they were in the slightest. What an anomaly.

"'Ou see chére, every inhabitant of 'zis world 'ou see with your own eyes are beings beyond human's understanding. We were here before at the beginning of an end, and we shall stay here until the end of the beginning.

"We are the physical embodiment of each and every nation on earth. As soon as civilisation starts, we appear. Though it is not exactly sure how, we suspect 'zat we just simply pop up out of thin air the moment a society emerges or is instituted.

"Vee, are dependant on the people, and 'ze people, are dependant on us. We were made to control 'Zese civilisations, 'ze people's actions, we were born to lead and ensure 'zeir survival. But of course, our lives are also depended on 'zeir decisions. 'Zey get to choose if they want to keep us, 'zey get to decide if they long for a nation, or dissolution, as chaos rises. Mutualism, 'ou see."

While all this occurred, she couldn't help but notice a glimpse of sadness wash over him, his lips pursed in a straight line as he gave a split second of silence, prepping himself for his next line. While it may have seemed that he was only about to gather a few short breaths, in a way, to the female it was almost as if he were.. refraining himself from something. Although, she paused for a moment, taking her time to absorb and fully process what he was feeding her. Her brows furrowed, knitted together as it seeped in, little by little. So that would mean... There was someone else above the president, above the prime ministers, above all that. These.. beings, whatever they were, were in charge of everything.

Everything she'd been taught, shattered. They'd lied, the mere fact that the supernatural was nothing but children's tales, had shattered her reality. Although, it would explain why there were images of these.. creatures in children's books. In a way they weren't lying, perhaps they were only merely hiding it, no, them in plain sight. While it had answered a single question, it had caused an itch in her head, more questions popping up here and there. Why had they hid this from them this whole time? Did they know about their world? Britain certainly hadn't even known the simplest greetings used. France hadn't even known why she apologised and sobbed over the fact she overslept. Such a thing was a ridicule! No, no. She couldn't doubt them! She couldn't, and wouldn't! Surely there must have been some... reasonable explanation behind all of this.
