The setting is similar to the movie Coraline, except the house is a simple two story house. The house is on a dirt road, with an expansive field of wheat in front of it. The dirt road leads off into an oak forest, ending at a clearing with an abandoned well in the center. Branching of the main road are driveways. One leads to the Gaston household, one leads to Ahaki's house, and one leads to the Lawrence/Night household(Norman and his mother's last name is Lawrence, Sam's last name is Night).
The alter world looks just like the real world, except maximum saturation. Seriously, you might get a headache if you were there during the daytime. The world changes itself to fit the victim's every want while simultaneously making it harder for them to leave.
All inhabitants in this world are made of corrupted dust- save for the creature.
This creature, appearing as a skinned anthropomorphic animal, is known as FRIEND. FRIEND feeds on human children, disguising itself as a parental figure before devouring the child once it gains their trust. FRIEND prefers to kill its victims first before eating them, burying the remnants of its meal and marking the grave. It does this in hopes the spirits of the children are trapped in that world forever.
FRIEND is mostly incapable of feeling human emotion other than rage and fear. It can, however, fake those emotions in order to pass as human. It is largely incapable of changing its appearance, so it sews up skin that has this ability and wears it. It seems to show no remorse, though the spirits seem to frighten it. It is said that FRIEND began feeding on children during the 1800s when the house was first built.
It is a mystery what FRIEND really is. Some say it's a demon. Some say it's a wendigo. No one is really sure.
