Chapter Five

Bev and I woke up around 8am and quickly got changed to head to the quarry. It wasn't until my vision fully came back that I realized that Bev had cut her hair in the middle of the night. It was really short compared to her old hair.

"Holy shit!"

"What?"

"Your hair!"

"Oh yeah. Just a late night impulse, I guess." she awkwardly smiled.

I didn't want to seem rude. It did look good.

"It looks great"

"Thanks"

Luckily, her dad wasn't home yet, but we didn't feel like to sticking around for him to find us. Apparently her dad was very strict when it came to her friends. That's all she told me.

Bev let me borrow one of her dresses to wear to the quarry. Thankfully, we were both the same size.

We eventually arrived at the quarry. We saw the boys standing by the edge in their underwear. I never really thought about the fact that I would be seeing Stanley practically naked today.

Richie and Eddie were arguing about some dumb shit.

"All right. Who's first?" Bill asked the boys.

Bev and I nodded at each other before we spoke up and grabbed everyone's attention.

"We'll go!" I said.

We started to take off our dresses, leaving us in our bra and underwear.

"Sissies" Bev laughed.

The boys were amazed as we ran past them and jumped off the cliff.

"What the fuck?!" Richie yelled as we landed in the water. As our heads reached the surface, we could still hear Richie yelling.

"We just got showed up by two girls!"

"Do we have to do that now?" Stanley panicked.

Bev and I rolled our eyes as we floated around in the water. It was the perfect temperature.

"Come on!" We both yelled.

Ben awkwardly waved at us as the other boys continued to freak out.

One by one, they each jumped off and met us at the bottom. We all splashed around in the water and played a few games. Bev and I wrestled with each other while I was on Stanley's shoulders and she was on Bills. She quickly pushed me off and Stanley helped me back up to the surface.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, thanks"

Bev continued to play with the boys and I took a moment to just take it all in. Day four and I had already made six incredible friends.

Richie began to freak out as he said that something touched his foot. What did he expect? We were swimming in a quarry. We all went underwater to see what it was.

"It's a turtle" Bill said as we all resurfaced.

I went to grab my necklace that I usually wear and realized that it wasn't there anymore. Mom had given Henry and I matching necklaces for when we both left each other when I was 8. I haven't gone anywhere without it. It was a small reminder to me that my brother was still somewhere in that monster.

"Shit" I mumbled as I started to look around for it.

"What's wrong?" Eddie asked.

"My necklace, I think I lost it"
