DRACO should have been used to the fact that nothing ever went as planned.

Yet, it still felt like a slap in the face when he got home to find lewd noises escaping the bedroom he'd used to share with Astoria.

He'd moved out of there and into his own bedroom ever since Theo and Astoria had become official—as official as they could be without anyone finding out. Narcissa Malfoy was still under the impression that Astoria and Draco were together.

But all he'd been looking forward to was a long bath and then a warm bed to ease his headache—but as soon as he crossed the threshold into the wing of the house that Astoria and him shared, it was clear she had another guest over.

He banged on the door with his fist as he passed it. "Really? Here? What, the mansion Theo bought up the street didn't have enough space?"

Immediately, the noises stopped and he could tell they were scrambling for their clothes, whispering harshly to each other. Draco only waited, draping himself against the doorway, trying to curb his annoyance.

Then the door cracked open and a dishevelled Theo poked his head out, his torso bare although thankfully, his lower half wasn't. "Hey, mate," he said, sheepishly, and Draco only glared and smacked his palm against the back of Theo's messy curls.

"Couldn't keep it in your pants in my house, could you?" he said, coldly, casting a look back over his shoulder at the hallway.

"It's my house too," came Astoria's breathless voice from behind the door.

Draco scoffed. "Yeah—and my mother's. You don't think she'd wonder about who you're fucking while I'm out of the house?"

Astoria's head popped up behind Theo as she twisted her hair into a knot. "She's out."

"Not anymore," Draco shot back as the distinct sound of the front door opening and closing resounded through the manor. "I saw her coming up the lane. Now, would you like to explain this to her or shall I?"

Indeed, Narcissa's footsteps were heading for their wing of the house and with a panicked look shared between them, both Astoria and Theo began to set themselves to rights, Draco turning to watch the entrance to the hallway.

"Oh, Draco." His mother appeared, looking pale and worn out. "You're back. I was beginning to worry."

Swiftly, he crossed the hallway and kissed her hair, throwing one arm around her small shoulders. "I'm fine, Mother. Just had a couple glasses with Orion."

And baked blueberry scones for a woman who can't bring herself to accept them due to her own potent self-loathing.

Wisely, he left that part out. "What were you doing out? You should be resting."
