He had to hurry, he had to be fast, he didn't care if the police stopped him as he was heading towards Wayne Tower running all the red lights and exceeding the speed limit by far. He screwed up like he never did, how could he not see that? how he couldn't see the distress in his child's eyes? his need for love and comfort? and now if he wasn't there to stop his son from doing what he planned to do, he could never forgive himself.

Flashback

He let his frustration prevail, again. He hurt his son's feelings, again. And he accused his son of murdering a criminal, again. Two years, he had been her Robin for two years and despite the efforts of his son, he continued to distrust him despite the reproaches of Dick and even Jason. He had to apologize to his son for making a mistake again. He had seen the surveillance cameras, his son hadn't killed that criminal, he had committed suicide, and while Bruce was supposed to be the greatest detective in the world, he refused to listen to his son, again. He walked the hallways of the manor before he fell at the door of his son's room. He knocked twice on the door asking if he could come in but nothing, he knocked again and again nothing, not a sound, not a sound, nothing. Anguish greeted Bruce with open arms and the young father slowly opened the door to see the empty room. He scanned the room to find out where his son had gone but the earpiece taken lives and Bruce heard Alfred's voice which was filled with terror and anxiety

- "Mr. Bruce! You need to come outside, right now !! "

- "What's going on, Alfred?" Ask Bruce as he goes out the window of his son's room

- "It's about Master Damian, he left a letter near his old tomb", explains Alfred

End of Flashback

He had arrived in front of the Wayne Tower and immediately exits the car and runs towards the stairs. He didn't care about the faces of his employees, he didn't care about blasting his secret identity when he jumps from floor to floor, all he wanted was his son home and safe. Bruce knew he wasn't open to his feelings, it was more Dick's specialty, and it showed up with his relationship with Damian. His son was happy with him, giving him the love and attention, he deserved, while his own father was only suspicious of him, waiting for the moment when he would reveal his true colours. And on the one hand, Bruce had seen his son's true colours, except that he had never known that his son was in pain, he wanted to be loved, to be trusted, but he never gave him that. He finally reached the top of the tower and suddenly opened the door. He saw his son, near the void, turn around and look at him. His once green eyes, once full of life and hope, of being a better man, were replaced by empty, lifeless and hopeless eyes.

- "It's only you. " said Damian.

His son's tone had shown Bruce that he was a bad father. His son's tone was not filled with hatred, anger or any other emotion Bruce would think his son would feel, no the tone was just empty.

- Damian, get away from the edge," asks Bruce, slightly frightened on the outside but completely panicked on the inside.

- "Why should I? isn't that what you wanted? Not having a murderer in your life?"

- "I don't want that, you're my son and I want you in my life"

At this, Bruce sees his son laughing, a mocking laugh. It was strange enough to hear his son laughing, but given the situation he was in, that laugh meant he said the wrong thing.

- You are my son and I want you in my life," Damian says with tears in his eyes, "how many times have I heard you say that and it has never come true?
