summary: you've always been best friends with peter parker, but you still dreamed of more and of that 'perfect friend/guy'. then one night, you realize he's been right here all along.

note: in this, your celebrity crush/obsession is tom holland because I think most of you would relate since you're reading this book. I've put some of his movie titles and stuff in here but you can still just switch it out for any other (celebrity) crush you might prefer.
this is basically a world with tom as an actor but he doesn't play spiderman/peter and there's no marvel etcwarnings: nightmare. bit of disregarding tom at the end (i'm so sorry). intense fluff :)
"Don't tell me you're crushing on him as a little kid in that movie," Ned states, stopping to look at you seriously.
"Don't give me that look," you say sternly and encourage him to keep walking. "Firstly, 'the impossible' is an amazing movie-"
"I never said it wasn't, but-" Ned cuts in.
You ignore him, continuing. "Secondly, it's one of the movies that properly kicked off his career. Thirdly, Tom was actually 16 when he filmed that so stop acting like he was actually a little kid. Lastly," you emphasize when you see Ned's mouth open, about to interrupt again. "He's so cute in it, okay?"
"Sure," Ned compromises, "but I don't get why you'd crush on him more in a movie like that than in 'The Devil of All Time' or something".
"Ned, Tom Holland looked better at 16 than any other boy I've ever seen and we both know it."
It was a Friday afternoon. Y/n Y/l/n and Ned Leeds were walking down the hallway after their last class, Peter Parker trailing closely behind them, listening to their conversation but keeping quiet.
Peter kept his head down, focusing on the sound of your voice as you talked about your favorite actor. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed and helpless. Sure, everyone had celebrity crushes, but it disappointed him that he could never be good enough for Y/n. It wasn't even her fault though. It was his. She wanted someone like Tom Holland. He could never compete with that, not even as a friend. Y/n spent more time dreaming of her future soulmate than focusing on what she already had.
Peter sighed, closing his eyes for a brief second before lifting his head and looking to the side, studying the faces of the people around them as he continued to trail behind Y/n and Ned.
"And did you see the puppy interview?" Your voice exclaimed again. "Ugh, someone get me a Tom Holland."
"I'm so excited!" you say, holding up two bags of chips. Peter studies them before nodding to the ones in your left hand.
"Me too, we haven't done this in so long."
"Too long," you sigh, and throw the bag at him without warning.
Peter catches it, of course.
"Ooh look at those spidey senses go," you joke and Peter mutters a serious "shush," anxiously looking around.
"Relax, no one heard or cares," you say, laughing. You turn back to the shelf, all the bright colored snacks tempting you.
"Chocolate?" you ask, although you already know the answer.
"yES," Peter says more eager than expected, stepping forwards.
You laugh at his response and he joins before saying "did I tell you? Aunt May stopped buying us chocolate."
