After I️ was sent to Metcalf's office and all hell broke loose, my parents were notified.

"What happened to you, Andi? I️ mean did we do something?" Bex asked.

I️ shook my head.

"No, no, it's not you guys. I️ just...I don't even know," I️ admitted with a sigh.

Bowie nodded pensively.

"Maybe we mainstream schooled you a little bit too soon. Maybe you should come back and be home-schooled for a while," he suggested.

I️ shook my head in disagreement.

"No. The only thing worse than going back will be not going back," I️ explained.

"How bad's it gonna be tomorrow?" he asked.

"Remember the lions fighting over the warthog carcass on Animal Planet? I'll be the warthog," I️ replied, unable to hide the dread I️ was feeling.

Bowie shook his head, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"You're not a warthog, you're a lion," he said.

"Yeah, maybe just lay low and focus on school for a little bit. I️ mean, you're still a good student, right?" Bex chimed in.

I️ felt a pit in my stomach. There was the other thing I️ needed to tell them.

"Oh, yeah. I️ need you to sign my calculus test," I️ admitted.

"Why?" Bowie asked.

I️ looked up, bracing myself.

"Because I'm failing," I️ confessed.

Both pairs of eyes looked at me, shocked. I️ had never even come close to failing a class before. They were silent for a moment, the silence making me uncomfortable enough to have to fill it.

"I know it's bad, but I'm going to talk to my teacher about extra credit and I'm gonna pass," I️ reassured.

Now, I️ just had to actually live up to my promise.

When I️ walked into my calculus class, Ms. Norbury wasn't there. Instead, Dr. Metcalf was.

"Did your teacher ever try to sell you marijuana or Ecstasy tablets?" he asked the class.

"No," one student said.

"What are marijuana tablets?" Marty asked.

I️ shook my head in disbelief.

"What's going on? Where's Ms. Norbury?" I️ asked.

"Dr. Metcalf, this is ridiculous," Jonah said. "Ms. Norbury does not sell drugs."

Dr. Metcalf nodded.

"I️ know, Jonah. But the school board felt that it was best that we investigate every claim made in this Burn Book," he explained.

"That book was written by a bunch of stupid girls who make up rumors because they're bored with their own lame lives," Jonah replied.

Dr. Metcalf sighed.

"Well, unless someone wants to come forward and say, 'I️ made it all up', this is how we have to handle it," he said.

I️ swallowed nervously. I️ didn't want to take responsibility for the whole thing. Then I️ remembered. I️ remembered that it was all of my bad choices that got me here. It was the tricks and the rumors and the lies that got me here. I️ was failing math, my friends hated me, Amber hated me, the school hated me. In other words, I️ had nothing left to lose, and the only thing left to do was the right thing.
