Life Of The Party

"Hey, I'm having a small get together at my house tomorrow night," I️ told Jonah.

"Is Amber going," he asked uneasily.

I️ shook my head and laughed.

"No. Do you think I'm an idiot? No, it's just gonna be a few cool people and you better be one of them," I️ replied.

Jonah shrugged.

"Fine, I'll go," he said.

I️ smirked.

"Shut up. I️ love that shirt on you." —

Jonah Beck was going to be in my house at my party. Everything had to perfect. And this time when Jonah saw me, I️ wouldn't be caught in some ridiculous costume.

"Hey, guys," I️ said to Kira and Iris when they arrived.

"You look awesome!" Iris said.

"I know, right? Ok, so I️ got enough snacks for eight people. Do you think that's enough?" I️ asked.

Kira and Iris looked at each other before looking back at me and nodding.

"Yeah," Iris said.

"Yeah. Oh yeah," Kira said.

It was not enough. Somehow word had gotten out about my small get-together and it was anything but small.

Things were getting more and more out of control, but all I️ could think about was how Jonah still wasn't there. Was he blowing me off?

I️ needed a breather, so I️ went up to my room, having to kick a couple out before I️ could be alone.

"Hey," a voice said from behind me.

I️ turned around. Jonah. Finally.

"Hey," I️ replied.

"I've been looking for you everywhere," he said.

He had?

"Me too," I️ replied.

He nodded.

"Wow, you look...new clothes?" He asked.

I️ smiled.

"Yeah, thanks for noticing," I️ said.

Things seemed like they were going pretty well.

"You wanna go downstairs?" He asked.

I️ shook my head.

"No, no. Let's stay here," I️ said.

I️ sat down on the bed and he sat down next to me.

"Thanks for getting me to come out tonight," he said.

"Yeah, sure, no problem," I️ replied.

He sighed and shook his head.

"You know what? I️ wasted too much time being mad at Amber. And things were always so complicated between us. From now on, I️ just want straightforward honest people in my life. No more drama," he said.

I️ nodded.

"Yeah, I'm not about that drama either. And I️ would never lie to you," I️ replied.

He smiled at me.

"I️ know."

I️ sighed.

"Although...okay, listen. I️ mean, I️ did technically lie to you once, but you're totally gonna laugh when I️ tell you."

He looked puzzled.
