You'll understand why I'm doing this ... won't you?

.....

Please forgive me, I need you to forgive me.

I guess I'll start around five years ago so you'll understand better.

It was the year 845.

When titans first broke through Wall Maria...

I would go into detail, but you can learn that story later.

I'm here to tell you my story from around five years ago until now, maybe that'll help you understand why I'm doing this,

for us.

Back then, I hadn't found a meaning to why I was alive.

I feel like I should introduce myself properly. It's been so long since I've had to write something like this, please excuse the lack of imagery, I'm in a rush.

My name is Y/N,  presently I'm 19 years old, in the year 850.

My mom's name was Amelia, she grew up as an orphan doing anything, fighting anyone for some change that would help her get through the week.

She said she met my dad working in a tavern. He left when I was born. She never talked about him.

I was raised inside of Wall Maria, more specifically Shiganshina District, located on the south edge. I grew up there with Mikasa, Eren, and Armin.

Well now that we've gotten that out of the way.

Where should I start?

Maybe by talking about the important people in my life?

Yeah, let's go with that.

Mikasa , Eren and Armin. They were all my close friends, but I'd have to say my closest friend was Mikasa.

Mikasa was beautiful. She had long black hair that would follow swiftly with her every move. She ended up cutting it when we got older since it would interfere with training. Mikasa always understood me, and when she didn't understand me she would try her best to. We were like sisters - no, we were closer than sisters.

What truly made Mikasa amazing wasn't her beauty, it was her strength and the kindness she showed to others. As we both know, great strength and great power always come at a price. Mikasa's strength always helped protect her, but the lives she couldn't protect were something she blamed herself for.

The thing that protected her was also what was ruining her.

Eren was always a family friend. I saw him as my brother, nothing more, nothing less. His mom and mine were close, like sisters. They stole together, waited tables together, they even planned their pregnancies to be at the same time.

The last experience they shared together was getting infected with a disease that plagued many of the citizens of our town. Some people started getting better due to advancements made in medicine, my mom wasn't among the people who go better.

The disease claimed my mother's life.

After my mom died I started living with Mikasa, Eren, his mom, Carla, and his dad, Grisha.

We lived quite peacefully until the wall fell. During the attack, Eren's mom was immobilized and eaten by a titan. His dad was missing.

Eren had always been an inspiration to me, but the one he inspired the most is Mikasa. They pushed each other to get stronger. They were made for each other.

Now for Armin,

Armin was someone I grew up with back home and was friends with Eren, so he became my friend too. Even though I wasn't as close to him as I was with Eren and Mikasa, I still cared for him. Armin was a thinker. He dreamed of seeing the world outside the walls. He was also exceptionally smart, he knew what to do and when to do it. When the world was playing checkers, Armin was playing chess.

Fast forward to after wall Maria fell.

We lived in a settlement for two years, after a soldier from the Garrison ( a branch of the military) by the name of Hannes saved us. Eren's dad was still missing, nowhere to be found. We were all 16 when we went to join The Cadet Corps, where we met the people who would become a huge part of our lives, forever.

Training and getting stronger to protect my home from the threat, known as the titans,  made me feel needed. I knew that by getting stronger to protect the people who couldn't fight for themselves I would always have a reason to live, a reason to survive.

In The Cadet Corps, there was Connie, the funny one who would put on a brave front. He helped me get through a lot over the years. Connie enjoyed making people happy, but I knew that by always having his issues put aside for something people deemed as "more important", he felt alone, unseen, unheard.

There was Sasha, the one who was always hungry and was always eating, but whose combat skills made up for it. She was selfless when it came to putting her life on the line for other people, you'd never catch her putting her food on the line for anyone though.

Sasha was brave.

Sasha was a soldier.

Connie and Sasha were like two peas in a pod, an inseparable duo.

Lastly, there was Jean.

Jean was an outspoken guy, a realist, he always spoke his mind and he never lied about his desires, even when criticized by our very own "Suicidal-Maniac", Eren. To be honest, when I first met him, I hated the guy. I hated how he didn't really seem to care about anything other than trying to prove how much better he was than the rest of us, I hated how smug and cocky he was too...well, that was until I got to know him.

Jean,

Jean.

Yeah, let's talk about Jean.
