JACK'S POV

It wasn't a long flight back to the pine forest where I found the girl. However when I arrived, it looked different than the way I left it.
The once bald patch of land next to the trees was covered in grass. I put my confusion for how it had gotten there aside as I looked for the woman in the green dress.
I felt my heart drop when I saw her there. She was next to a tree, sitting down with her knees against her chest. She seemed calm and content, her eyes closed and her head tilted towards the branches. Her shoes were off, and they were nestled next to her in the grass.
I landed next to her, but made enough noise to make sure she would be able to acknowledge my presence- I didn't want to get slapped again.
One of her eyes opened, and once she saw who was in front of her, she opened the other and faced me completely.
"Oh. It's you again," she stated. She didn't seem too excited.
I sighed a little and shoved one hand in my pocket, the other gripping onto my staff to restrain my frustration.
"Yep, it's me," I walked closer, and I noticed her hands curl around the bow she had next to her.
"Listen, I know you don't exactly trust me, but there's a situation at North's, and we need y-"
"North's?" She interrupted.
"I- yes. North's. We ne-"
"Who's North?"
"For god's sake woman-"
"Listen, Jack was it?" She stood, her fingers balling into fists. "I know I'm a guardian, but I'm not exactly experienced in the whole business. You can't expect me to know what the hell you're talking about just like that."
I huffed, frustrated at the girl in front of me. She was stubborn, definitely. But I could see behind those (e/c) eyes of hers that she was worried.
"If it makes you feel any better, I've been in your shoes before. I'm a guardian too, and my first day on the job wasn't exactly easy, either."
Her fists slowly released, and I saw her shoulders relax.
"Listen, I totally understand your pain. But you have to trust me. There's danger in the world and the Man in the Moon called upon you to fix it."
Her head turned to the giant crater in the sky, her face illuminating with her movement.
I raised an eyebrow, lifting my arm that held North's sack. "Don't make me use the sack."
She sighed. "Fine. Ok."
My eyebrows shot up with surprise at her compliance and she sighed once again.
"I'm not sure who I am. The only thing I know about myself is that I'm the Guardian of Rebirth, and I don't even know what that means." She locked eyes with me. "You're the only chance I have now." She bent over and plucked her shoes from the grass, walking over slowly.
I nodded in understanding and held out my hand for her to take. She slipped her own hand into mine. It was warm- warm enough to make my skin feel like it was melting.
"I never caught your name, by the way," I smirked. "Unless you'd like to go by the Guardian of Rebirth?"
"Oh, no, that's okay," she giggled, and it was like music to my ears. "It's (y/n)."
As if it were on cue, grass sprouted from underneath her feet. I jumped back slightly.
"Gah! How did you do that?!"
(Y/n) looked down, wiggling her toes between the greenery.
"Oh, right. I can do that." She shrugged.
"Hmm," I held a hand up, stopping her from any thought that may have been brewing in her head. My brow furrowed, and I looked around the land. I could have sworn there wasn't grass here an hour ago, but now the ground was covered.
"Rebirth..." I muttered under my breath, and (y/n) followed my gaze to the grassy field.
"Yeah," she confirmed. "I guess spring is a time of rebirth."
My eyelids shot open as it occurred to me.
"Wait... that means you're-"

~*~

"Mother Nature!!"
North's voice echoed throughout his workshop as (y/n) and I landed safely on the wooden floor. The flats she had held in her left hand dropped to the ground as her right hand stayed holding mine. Her jaw dropped at the sight of the beautiful palace of wonder that she was standing in.
"This.. is incredible," she whispered.
While she gawked at the structure, Bunny walked over to North.
"North, doesn't Mother Nature already exist?"
The large man turned to the rest of us.
"Technically, yes. She has been around since beginning of time. She normally stayed hidden from everyone else, but very recently she decided to relinquish powers and exist as mortal among humans." He crossed his arms over his chest.
"You can do that?" I asked.
"You have to meet certain amount of experience years. Hint: it's too many," he chuckled. "Anyway, Man in Moon had to choose new guardian to take her place."
We all turned over to (y/n), who had moved from her landing spot over to a yeti. The yeti seemed uncomfortable with the girl staring at him, and he looked at the rest of us for assistance as (y/n) slowly stuck her hand out to pet his fur. She noticed the eyes staring at her, and turned to look at us.
"Is... is he real?"
"Yes," Bunny chuckled, as did everyone else.
Besides me.
"Jack?" I turned to see North coming over. He slapped a hand on my back, and although it nearly knocked the wind out of me I turned my attention to him. "What's the matter, lad?" he asked.
"It's no wonder we didn't hit it off right away," I frowned. "Her job is literally to destroy what I create. She brings warmth to melt my snow."
"Jack, my boy," he chuckled. "That has been happening since before you became guardian. Spring has to come whether you like it or not. But now you know who Mother Nature is, and you can work together to make sure seasons go smoothly!"
I glanced over to the group, who was introducing themselves to (y/n). I could tell that Aster was taking a liking to her; I could only assume it was due to the fact that Easter and spring coincide. Of course they'd get along.
If I'm going to have to live with her destroying what I create, I might as well have a little fun with it...

(Y/N)'s POV
Although I didn't remember much, I did know who Santa Claus was (or North, as everyone here liked to call him), but I didn't expect the North Pole to be this gorgeous.
I was taking in the interior of the beautiful design when the rest of the Guardians gathered around me. I turned around.
"Oh, hello again," I responded shyly. They were much more intimidating up close and personal.
"Nice to meet ya, Sheila. E. Aster Bunny." The large rabbit held his hand out for a greeting, and I responded with a firm handshake.
"Easter Bunny," I smiled. "Sound to me like we'll be working together a lot."
He nodded happily, and I turned over to the woman next to him. She looked anthropomorphic, feathers littering a slim, human-like figure.
"Hiya! I'm Toothiana!" She grabbed my hand excitedly and pulled me into a hug.
"I'm what humans call the Tooth Fairy. You can call me Tooth, though."
"Of course," I grinned, and Tooth's eyes immediately brightened with excitement.
"Oh goodness gracious, they're beautiful!" She reached for my mouth, but next to her someone cleared their throat.
I turned over, then down to see a little yellow man.
"This is the Sandman, or Sandy," Bunny spoke from behind me.
He waved, and a series of symbols shuffled above his head in yellow, sparkling sand.
👍2🤝U
I cocked my head to the side, trying to decipher. Then,
"Oh! It's nice to meet you too!" I giggled, and Sandy returned the joyful gesture with his own silent laughter.
I looked back up to see North and Jack walking over to us.
"(Y/n)! I am North, Guardian of Wonder. And you've already met Jack..."
I glanced over at Jack and smiled lightly, but he frowned and looked away. Odd.
"Jack is a bit upset to have someone melt his creation," North whispered, putting his hand up so Jack wouldn't see his mouth moving. Jack twitched.
"Get over it, mate. Winter has to come to a close whether you like it or not," Bunny chuckled, and Jack shot him a glare.
"Anyway," North held his arms out around the rest of his guardian friends. "There is situation with a child in the world, and you, (y/n), are the only one who can help."
"Me?" I frowned a little. I had just found out I was a guardian less than 24 hours ago, and now the fate of a child was rested in my hands. "What's the situation?"
"I'm not sure the specifics," North clasped his hands together and took a deep breath. "But I think it has something to do with Pitch."
The other guardians stirred. The word Pitch seemed to strike a nerve.
"North, you didn't mention anything about Pitch!" Tooth said worriedly, rubbing her hands together in a nervous manner.
"I didn't think he was a part of this until now," North shrugged defensively.
"Who's Pitch?" I questioned
"The Boogeyman."
I turned to Jack. He seemed less upset with me now and more upset with this new information.
"He's the controller of bad dreams. He almost destroyed childhood just a few years ago."
Jack seemed most worried about Pitch, and it hurt seeing all of this new info being dumped on him at once. I felt bad.
"How am I supposed to stop Pitch?" I frowned. "I just came to consciousness. I don't even know what this bow does," I stated, pulling the weapon from my side. North and Bunny gasped.
"Crikey," the rabbit cocked his head to get a better look at the bow.
"Mother Nature's bow," North said happily, his eyes filling with wonder. "Nobody has seen it for thousands of years. Not since the early AD years..."
"Heh, those were the Glory Days, eh North?" Bunny chuckled.
"No offense, guys," I interrupted. "But I still don't know what to do with this thing. I don't know what to do at all!"
"(Y/n)," North's laughter boomed around the workshop. I could tell he was getting hyped up about something.
"Welcome to your training!"
