As you approach your front door, you heart heaves slowly but surely. "What a shit day," you say quietly to yourself under your breath. It had been a long week altogether but something about the long Friday hours at work made you want to scratch your eyes out. Your brain hurt a lot at times like this and it was hard to focus.
This was when you needed Chan- "yeah well, he's probably still busy working at this time," you sigh, glancing down at your phone which read 8:05pm.
After the last few pushes up the steps, you unlock your front door that stood in front of you. The cold silver of the door handle provided some cool relief for your sweaty palms as you opened the door. You knew Chan would be home, he worked from home when he could, but, unlike most workers, Chan was different. When Chan got into a project, like the one he was amidst right now, he couldn't let it go til he finished it.
Sometimes this would mean he was up all night til the early am so you barely got to see him between getting home from work one night and leaving for work the next. It hurt to know his work was so important to him; you wondered that it was maybe more important to him than you were.
This was the sad truth that used to make you cry and want to run away; but these days you realise that without him, you simply were nothing. Even just a little Chan was better than none was what you resolved with yourself.
The home you two shared was as silent as a mouse and the familiar hallway was barely lit as you tiptoed through it towards the stairs. The only thing you could do to relieve the stress that is weighing upon your shoulders recently was a hot, steamy shower.
You padded up the cream stairs, wondering if just maybe Chan would notice me as you pass his studio. Approaching the studio, you can hear his quiet hums from beneath his headphones that were cancelling all noise outside of his own. The bright green walls could be seen from a mile away and the dim lights he had on shone out of the room and to where you stood.
Sighing, you rest your head against the door frame that was the gateway to his world.
His small face was bobbing up and down from behind the many computers and instruments that encased him in his room. Looking at him made your eyes strain, struggling to keep the tears from falling.
You missed him so much. You missed the way he made you feel and the way his eyes would sparkle when he looked at you.
It wasn't that you two weren't a match anymore... it was just that neither of you had time to love each other like you used to.
Back before both of your works got too busy and stressful, you would be held close every single night by him, his strong hands holding you tightly by your waist as he nuzzled gently into your hair. Every single night.
You let out a quiet laugh as you turn to leave, without noticing his worried eyes flit up from his keyboard just in time to catch your pained expression.

Stepping into the steaming shower was barely relief enough for the day you have had. The water cascaded over your body, scalding your bare skin. With a deep sigh, the tears come. The weeks of stress and hopelessness start to trickle down your bare cheeks, each tear showing your imperfections one by one.
Without a second thought, another pair of hands slid round your waist, pulling you into the mystery figure tightly. You look down towards the hands to see the chain bracelet and the three rings that were most familiar to you.
Chan. You quietly lean back into his chest, continuing to cry below him. You didn't want him to see you like this, so vulnerable, but you couldn't help it.
The pent up anger and hurt that kept you up at night seemed to now show their true colours and the empty feeling in the pit of your stomach slowly lifted; if just for a second.
"Y/n," he breathes, slowly spinning you around to face him. The exposed emotions and feelings of the past few months broke out as you hide your broken face in his shoulders. His hands reach toward your wet hair, carefully stroking the strands as his head bends down slightly to place delicate kisses across your head.
"I know..." he sighed, his voice cracking at every syllable. "It's okay."
His damaged response made you wanted to scream out, wanting to help him and hurt him, all at the same time. Out of your hopelessness, you push further into him, crying harder this time.
You hate how he made you feel, how he makes you worry, the way he leaves for weeks for work and come back like nothing had happened.
"Chan," you begin, hot tears spilling out of your eyes and you hear him mumble an "I'm sorry" into your hair.
He slowly lifts up your face by gently holding you jaw between his thumb and forefinger, before wiping the tears from your purple under eye bags that drooped low, visible as ever. You pulled him impossibly close as you refuse to let him go from the fear of losing him forever.
You couldn't lose him. Before you can speak he stops you, "I can't lose you, y/n." This time, he spoke clearly. There wasn't a moment of worry or any hesitation in his voice.
He slowly leans towards you, his eyes sparkling in the water as it slowly became cooler and the pressure decreased. Soon, he was right in front of you. Nose to nose, he whispered into your lips, "I love you." before kissing you gently. Cupping your face in his hands again, he mutters into your forehead again, "I really can not lose you."
The water droplets fall onto his wet blonde curls as they hid his tears as he embraces you once again. The water soon went cold and yet he refuses to let you go. Instead, he simply breathes into your hair again and again and you slowly find some peace in the world right there, in his arms.
