Sometimes you asked why I was so interested in talking to you. You told me that you thought that I had gotten my heart broken. My heart was broken, definitely. By you.
Over the summer, this was true. I had confessed my feelings for you, and yet I had pushed you away because I believed your heart lies with someone else.
It was true. And you know it was true because of what happened over that summer. You liked her, whatever her name was. It's slipped my mind now but it's not a name I particularly want to remember.
I did like you. I did have feelings for you but I had pushed you away because you couldn't love me. You couldn't love me anymore because you had other priorities.
Like loving her.
Perhaps I was okay with that.
Because I knew it would fail.
Not for any reason. Just my instinct.
