The last day of the year is marked by the rain.
I asked you why we were even here
when the rain sought to swallow us up.
You told me to just take refuge under a tree, because you'd come and keep me warm.
You always want to keep me warm but it's only because we are always in warm places that you have the ability to do that.
My jacket could barely handle the rain, the water seeping and soaking into my shirt.
I was wearing nothing underneath, transparency.
Exposed was the bare chest of mine,
cold and staring right at you.
The tree did nothing. Every gap, the water managed to fill and get me once more.
You said 'seek refuge in me'.
But my heart already lies with you.
The last day of this year
has been a wet one.
But you say that shouldn't stop us
from making the most of today.
I'm soaked.
But at least I'm with you.
I know you'll keep me warm.
