Halloween Special

Meliodas didn't have anything against Halloween; he just never really connected with the holiday much. He had one advantage, though- his short stature helped with the mounds of candy he was able to collect. Otherwise, he would rather be drinking or snuggling with his boyfriend instead.

"Oi, Captain," Ban called from behind the bar, "Are we doing anything for Halloween?"

Meliodas cocked his head while sighing, "I don't really know," he admitted, "We could have a special meal in the tavern together."

Even though it wasn't anything fancy, Meliodas knew their many battles and constant moving kept the group busy and apart. A little downtime would be a real treat.

"I can always ask Hawks and Elizabeth if you want," Ban said, spinning to face his partner.

"That would be amazing. Thanks, babe," Meliodas jumped on the counter and kissed Ban on the cheek.

The love between them had evolved from passion into something more. To have physical contact and closeness with each other meant everything to them. Even after they parted, their eye contact maintained intimacy and bliss for as long as possible. Even Ban had become less afraid of the others walking in on them embracing. Now whenever Meliodas touched him, he simply melted and everything else in the world lost meaning. It was just them.

"Hey Captain, can we decorate the tavern?" Elizabeth shifted a large box she held in her arms- "I think it would be nice."

"Sure, I don't see why not." Meliodas smiled, drawing himself away from Ban.

Elizabeth squealed and immediately started unboxing all the decorations. She was a big fan of the holiday season. When King, Diane and Hawks returned in the afternoon, they collectively agreed. No one was going to turn down the opportunity to take a day or week off and relax.

"You two need a room outside the tavern, I swear," King muttered.

Meliodas just laughed in response, he knew that Ban was uncomfortable discussing their sex life with the others so he didn't say anything. Diane was eager to help with all the preparations before she was back to her normal size. Her presence at least encouraged King to help out, which was unlike his usual laziness.

"So what do you want to do on Halloween?" Meliodas asked Ban while the others were getting caught on a fake spiderweb.

"What do you mean?" Ban queried.

"I mean- you know, just the two of us," he smirked up at the larger man.

"Hu-ohh, ohh I- umm," Ban blushed and was lost for words, "I haven't really thought about it," he admitted.

"That's alright love," Meliodas squeezed his hand reassuringly. "Take your time and besides we don't have to if you don't feel like it."

Ban smiled down at the captain. He was far too embarrassed to say it out loud, but there was something he wanted to try with Meliodas.

Ban decided to spoil the group with loads of extra-sugary Halloween treats and rich meals along with the extra candy that Hawks insisted they buy. The food was set upon a  gorgeous purple and orange tablecloth with spooky pumpkin napkins.

Elizabeth and Diane had decorated the tavern with cute and spooky creatures. All the stereotypical ghosts, bats and pumpkins filled the room, with the addition of classy black candles for dim lighting. Gravestones topped with skulls stood solemnly around the group as they feasted on a well-deserved meal.
