Meliodas x Ban (Remastered)

Ban?

After Meliodas had come out to the group, everyone continued on with their lives as if nothing had changed. Sure he would receive the odd question about his past relationships but the group didn't seem bothered in the slightest by his sexuality.

Elizabeth was still as adorable as ever and continued to pamper Meliodas and hold him dear to her.

Meliodas was still just as pervy as ever always sneaking up on Elizabeth and grabbing her from behind. Only Hawk and Diane scolded him as Elizabeth simply blushed and giggled.

The group's dynamic was the same, though Meliodas seemed to now wonder more, allowing his mind to pour over men rather than women. It was as if a large weight had been lifted from him, allowing him to once again think of a possible relationship with another man. Perhaps it was because he had kept all his feelings bottled up for centuries after his lover's death.

He shook his head to clear his mind, knowing that it was due time to move forward and find someone else. He noticed that Ban was quieter than usual; more reserved and restrained. It was as though his thoughts had taken over his body along with his mind. Now their eyes hardly ever met, and they barely exchanged more than a few words until Meliodas couldn't take it anymore.

After everyone had gone to their rooms Meliodas crept through the halls until he reached Ban's room and gently pushed open the door.

"Couldn't sleep either, captain?" Ban asked, staring out of the tavern window lost in thought.

"Ban, did I do something wrong?" Meliodas was genuinely worried about his friend, "If it's my sexuality that bothers you.."

"It doesn't," Ban murmured.

"Then why the hell have you been avoiding me!?" He almost shouted until his taller friend covered his mouth.

"Look, it's just... umm... I need your help," Ban said simply.

"Oh, with what?" That was odd. He thought Ban almost never needed help. Usually, his powers and muscles could solve any problem.

"I want you to help me.... accept myself, captain." He was almost whispering now, his tone verging on fear.

"Wait- you can't be telling me that you're..."

"Gay," Ban finished the captain's sentence.

"It's hard, you know. King still thinks I have feelings for Elaine when all I want is... I don't even know what I want," he finished with a defeated expression spreading across his face.

"Look, I'm sure King will understand. You can't choose your sexuality Ban, you can only accept it," Meliodas spoke softly and pulled Ban into a hug.

At first, his body stiffened at the sudden show of affection but then Ban melted into the hug, his head nestled in the captain's shoulder. The men both felt safe and secure as if they were now in some kind of heaven that they had created. Meliodas could feel an overwhelming emotion slowly building up inside him. Was it admiration? A sense of trust? Or, perhaps... love?

Later Ban finally told King how he truly felt about Elaine and as her brother his first reaction was annoyance and anger. However, King eventually came around after a while understanding that Ban's feelings towards Elaine could never be love. Meliodas supported Ban throughout his conversation with King ensuring that there was no hate on the team.
