It feels so good to be back to driving myself to school, almost a week without my car and I was tired of it. I manage to slip in to one of the last few parking spaces and climb out of my baby.

"Hazel!" I spot her strolling down the sidewalk, earphones shoved into her ears and her eyes glued to her typing thumbs. "Hazel!" no response, she continues walking, her head nodding to the beat of the music discreetly. I snatch my rucksack from the passenger seat and fly towards her, just before she can reach the first step, I practically tackle her. My arms and legs flying onto her back. She swings at me, ripping her earphones out in the process, the music so loud that it continues to echo out of the wires. "You're going to be deaf when you're older" my chin rest on her shoulder her head turned to me still looking bewildered.

She chuckles and shrugs me off of her, I'm surprised she lasted that long with the weight of me on her back. "Oh well" she winds up the wire of her earphones, even though they'll still get knotted in her coat pocket either way, we begin our walk up the school steps. "So, who was that girl last night?" how did I know this would be the first question out her mouth?

"That was Ivy, I met her a few days ago" I hesitate a little, unsure if I should go telling people about this, but it is Hazel, she already knows most the details of my life it won't hurt for her to know this one too. "My Grandad asked her and some of her friends to find me"

"I miss Grandad Paul... why on earth is he sending people to find you?" she laughs, most likely at the image of my grandad Paul having to send out teenagers after me.

"Because it wasn't my Grandad Paul"

"Huh? Oh! You mean it was... your biological one?" she stops in her step making the guy behind her dramatically huff before stomping around us.

"Stanley yeah" I try to gesture for us to carry on up the stairs and out of people's way, but she refuses, and stays put to carry on our conversation.

"Why does he want to find you?"

"I have no idea; I haven't got to talk to him yet"

"Do you want to talk to him? I thought he was an asshole" alright we're annoying people now. I grab her arm and tug her to the side of the stairs and out of the other student's way, they hurry past before we can get in their way again.

"Yeah, I do, even if he is an asshole, I just want to hear his side of the story. Or you know any side of the story since my dad tells me absolutely nothing" she practically jumps out of her jeans as I talk, her eyes and nose scrunch up at me. "What?" I peer behind me to only see a huddle of sophomores walking past us. What just happened?

"You called him your dad... you never do that, like ever" shit she's right, why did I do that? Harley's comment must be getting to me, without me even realising it.

"Enough about me, how are you Haze? I feel like we haven't had a real catch up"

Before she can fill me in on her new dramas I've missed out on, the growls of a motorbike fill the parking lot, it pulls most people attention towards it, like it usually does.

"That thing gives me a headache every morning" she sneers at the navy bike Brandon is straddling, his helmet still perched on his head and covering his face, but everyone knows it's him as he sports his plain leather jacket like always.

To see the jacket without patches and stamps and the red sewing, it looks naked, I think I prefer his other jacket.

"You love when Cole takes his brothers bike out"

"Yeah, but that's Cole, I love anything that gorgeous boy does, but Brandon's bike is just obnoxious to me" I roll my eyes at her biased opinion and continue the walk up the steps hoping she'll follow after me this time, since I don't want to irritate even more people. "Speaking of Cole, have you seen him this morning?"
