Afternoon at UA High rolled by, and the gentle cold breeze caused by the approaching winter weather flittered Gon's hair slightly. He rested his back against the window, looking nowhere in particular, but hearing the footsteps of the promising students pass by the school hallways.
We're not the only ones aspiring to be heroes. These people have dreamed of it their whole lives. Gon thought to himself.
Was it really going to be as easy as it was become a hunter? There are thousands- no- millions of people who have trained for this their entire lives. Would he really be able to become a true hero?
Gon wasn't worried- worry was the last thing on his mind- he was excited. He couldn't begin to imagine all the new things there were to discover in this new, shiny, hero world. That said he also didn't want to make Killua or anybody worry again.
He looked over at his friend, who was also leaning against the window, eating a bar of chocolate zoned out.
Yeah... I won't worry anyone else again.
"Hey, you alright Gon?" Killua leaned under him to study his sudden change in facial expression.
Gon snapped out of it. "Hmm! I'm okay."
Killua didn't seem to believe that, but didn't press any further and went back to finishing his sweet treat.
The school bell rang.
🐸 🐸 🐸
"All right, settle down."
The 22 students sat immediately upon hearing Mr. Aizawa's command.
"For today's hero course, we are going to be doing a Quirk Apprehension Test."
The students whispered among themselves and some raised their hands in protest.
Mr. Aizawa didn't seem to care though and told them to be quiet. The voices of the students were all silenced.
"The school deemed it appropriate for all classes to do a Quirk Apprehension Test to know the development of your quirks over the past 9 months. We decided on this so you students know how much better you've gotten, and what you need to improve."
Iida shot his hand up.
"Yeah, Iida?"
"Excuse me sir, but are the new students also taking part in the test?"
"Yes, of course. It will be a good opportunity to know the full extent of their quirks."
Gon and Killua, as if psychologically connected, looked at each other at the same time.
Killua asked Gon the best he could using his facial expressions and hand gestures.
Hey, what is this test about? It's not what Aizawa told us about right?
Not sure. Weren't we going to fight him? Are we fighting him? Gon signaled back.
That's what I wanted to ask you, dummy.
"Anyways, change into your gym uniforms and let's head out."
The class stood in unison. "Yes, sir!"
Gon could feel something within him starting to blaze. His heart was pounding vivaciously in anticipation, and he could feel the adrenaline in every muscle of his body. This was it after all... the start of his new life at UA.
