It was a beautiful day in Whale Island; green skies and the perfectly clear, blue ocean! We see green prosperous forests, surrounding a busy village full of people, enjoying the pleasures of fishing and other leisurely activities. However, this story revolves around a 15 year-old Gon Freecs, who, after his adventures with his father, Ging, decided to visit his home for his birthday.

He didn't only visit for his birthday; he also visited because he missed his Grandma and Aunt Mito. He hadn't seen them since he visited a year ago with his best friend, Killua. Killua Zoldyck was his best friend forever! No matter what kept them apart, they would always be best friends.

As Gon walked through the rocky pathway towards his house, he found Aunt Mito hanging clothes in the clothesline. Gon, getting excited, yelled her name, and ran toward her. Aunt Mito was shocked, dropping the shirt in her hand, and running to Gon as well. The both met and gave each other a big hug, each enjoying their embrace.

"Gon!" Aunt Mito said, pulling from the hug to get a better look at Gon. "You look so big! I can't believe you're here!"

"Aw, Aunt Mito, ya' know, I haven't been gone for long." Gon grinned, rubbing the back of his head.

Aunt Mito came to a sudden realization. "Oh, today is your birthday right? Happy Birthday! Is it 15 now?"

"Yep!" Gon smiled.

"You're getting so big!" Aunt Mito looked around. "Where's your friend, Gon? Killua was his name, right?"

Gon wished he could see Killua for his birthday. He really wished he could. He would try and communicate with him, but they had a little falling out when Gon went "rage mode," like Leorio likes to call it. Gon didn't think it was a good idea to call him after what happened; he felt so bad for what he did to Killua, he didn't want to be a burden or anything.

"Killua went on a world trip with his sister!" Which, was the truth, but not the complete one.

"That's wonderful! Which reminds me, thank God you came here today. There was a sketchy letter that came for you in the mail just yesterday."

Aunt Mito leaded the curious boy inside, towards the kitchen. Gon sat at the wooden table, the smell of oranges and seawater wafting throughout the house. He needed a break from everything else; he didn't want to hurt other people, not anymore. Home was the best place to be in right now.

Aunt Mito came back from the kitchen. "Here."

She gave Gon a pale yellow envelope, with a golden stamp with the letters "U" and "A" in it. Not being able to contain his curiosity, he opened the envelope, only to find a black box.

"Aunt Mito, what's this?"

"Hmm." Mito picked up the box. "It seems like some kind of recording box! Have you tried to find the "on" button?" She gave the black box to her nephew.

"Huh? Oh here it is!" He pressed his finger on a red button, playing a holographic recording. Never having seen anything like it before, Gon dropped the box startled. The recording still went on however.

" . . . HELLO!!! I am a pro hero, Present Mic! I'm proud to say that you have entered UA High School through recommendations! Mito sighed. "Woah. A hero school? That's—"

Aunt Mito looked at her nephew. She knew there was no stopping him once she looked into his excited, puppy eyes and that awestruck smile. She had forgotten that look. That was the same look he had when he said he wanted to become a pro hunter, which he accomplished.
