"If Marshall catches you, he's going to kill you." Willow joked with smoke pouring out of her lips. Paul smirked as he pulled the cigarette from his mouth with his good hand, his cast covered arm in his lap.

"I'll blame it all on you." He turned his head to wink at his friend.

"Jerk." Willow laughed bumping her shoulder against him, placing her own cigarette back on her lips.

The back door to the restaurant opened behind them and both of them twisted on the steps to see Cora.

"Willow. Hi Paul." She stopped to wave at Paul.  "Willow, just a reminder that you're closing tonight. I have to head out soon."

"Okay. Sounds good." Willow nodded.

"Don't let Charlie catch you smoking those." Cora gestured to the cigarette in Willows fingers before she stepped back inside.

"It sucks that you have to work tonight. Jane is really killing it in basketball this year." Paul stated as he tossed his burning bud on the ground stomping it with the toe of his shoe.

"You don't know anything about basketball." Willow laughed as the smok flowed out of her mouth.

"That's true but I'm a wonderful friend. I'm the biggest cheerleader we have in our group." Paul stretched his arms up above his head, Willow's eyes locked on the black cast and her smile faltered.

"Paul, please tell me what happened to your arm."

"Willow.." Paul sighed as he rose to his feet.  "Don't worry about it."

"Paul. What did you do?" Tossed her cigarette to the ground and rose to her feet.

"Lola.." Paul turned his back to her, his good hand combing through his hair. "I need you to trust that what I did was what needed to be done."

"That's not good enough Paul." Willow harshly gripped his jacket and twisted him back around towards her. "What did you do?"

She repeated each word with a rough tone, her eyes pleading for some kind of answer. Paul's eyes were distant, as if he wasn't actually looking at her. After a long moment of silence Paul wrapped his good arm around her shoulders and pulled her into his chest, his chin resting on top of her head.

"You are my best friend Lola. What I did was necessary and I would do it again. Just trust me when I say I had your best interest at heart." Paul mumbled into her hair and in a move of understanding Willow wrapped her arms around him. She made a point then not to ask about it anymore, he was protecting her in his own way.

"Have fun tonight." Willow pulled back with a grin. "I have to get back inside before Cora fires me." Willow laughed and gave him a playful shove.
