"thank you for walking me home vinnie" i squeeze his hand in mine and he nuzzles his head into my neck further. i bring my lips to meet his. his lips are soft and warm, making me never want to leave him. i pull away slightly but vinnie pulls me into him closer, tightening his grip on my waist.

"have i ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?" vinnie stares into my orbs and my cheeks flush.

"well i'm going to go inside, i had fun" i remove myself from his grasp and walk to my door.

"bye vin" i shut the door behind myself and slide my back down it slowly.

love is a deep, strong feeling of affection towards someone.

that is what i feel for vinnie.

i think i love him, actually i know i love him, but i could never tell him that, not yet at least.

falling in love too quickly always leads to broken relationships. i know vinnie doesn't love me, he can't love me, it's too soon. it's only been around 3 months and we've already had sex, isn't that a bit too fast? i guess it doesn't matter when it comes to him, all i want is to be with him.

the sound of giggling invades my ears as i walk down the large corridors. i grab the first thing i see and walk slowly towards the sound.

i step into the living room to see my dad sitting on the couch with someone else. a woman.

"dad?" i widen my eyes at him and the woman, his face is smeared with red lipstick and i look at the woman to see her hair messy.

"briar? i didn't know you were going to be home" he stands up and walks over to me.

"where were you? it's been almost three months dad? you never go for that long!" i raise my voice a little at him.

"i know i know, i had important business to deal with. i'm back for good now though" he smiles and i crinkle my nose at him.

"it's nice to meet you briar, your dad has told me so much about you" the short woman holds her hand out in front of my middle and i shake it warily.

"this is maryanne, my girlfriend" he goes to stand with her and i widen my eyes at them.

"you're girlfriend? when did this happen?"

"i met her, on a work trip" he says and i run a hand through my hair frustratedly.

"i'm gonna start on dinner" she blurts out breaking the awkward silence. dinner? who the fuck does she think she is?

"so what she's living here now?" i ask and he nods slowly.

"great" i fake smile at her and trudge up the stair case.

i shut my door a little harder than i do usually to signal that i'm mad. at him.

it's not that i am mad at him for having a girlfriend, i'm just mad at him for going away for so long. he was supposed to be a dad, and take care of me, but for the past few months it seemed like he didn't care about me.

i call the group chat and they all pick up within minutes.

"briar!" jackson yells into the phone. "calm down jack" i say back and he scoffs.
"you won't believe what happened" em says and i raise my eyebrows.
"what?"
"alicia cheated on lucas" i widen my eyes at her words and gasp.
"what the fuck?! with who?" i exclaim. "some guy called mason. apparently he goes to our school but i've never heard of him" jackson says.
"lucas are you okay?" he doesn't respond, instead he sniffles.

"we're coming over" i end the call and bolt out of my house as fast as i can.

i drive over to lucas' house, to be greeted by his mom when i get there "he's upstairs" she says, it's like she read my mind.

lucas sits at the end of his bed, his legs are pulled up to his chest and his head is lowered into his thighs.

"oh lucas" i sit next to him, wrapping my arms around him. he buries his head into my neck and i feel a few tears drop onto my shoulders.

"you don't deserve this" i mutter and stroke his hair softly. he looks up at me, puffy eyed and messed up hair.

jackson and emily barge in and immediately wrap their arms around us.

"thanks you guys" lucas says as we pull away from the hug. "i swear i'm going to strangle the life out of that-" emily says but lucas cuts her off.

"please don't, i don't want to cause any trouble" he rubs his eyes and runs a hand through his hair.

"hey guys what movie should we watch?" jack chirps up and scrolls through movies. em mumbles some random movie and we all agree to watch it.

"i'll get popcorn" emily says and runs down the stairs.

jackson goes into the bathroom and leaves lucas and i alone in the room.

"it'll be okay lucas, i promise" i lean in closer and run my finger over the pad of his cheek to comfort him.

as i go to stand up lucas places his hand on my thigh and pulls me back down. he presses his lips on mine, wrapping his arms around my waist and blinking his tears for alicia away.
