Jennifer Luxe stepped out of the silver Porsche. She flicked back her model-perfect blonde hair as she strutted through the creaky gate. She looked very out of place in the Children's Home. She had her best red Louboutins on,a striped Dolce and Gabana top and red designer jeans. Her Ray Bans were perched on top of her ski slope nose, and she had a huge red Chanel bag on her slender arm.

She walked past the scruffy kids, who were gaping at the glamorous woman knocking on Sarah's door.

"Oh!Ms. Luxe!You're early!"

Cried Sarah, almost throwing her magazine onto the ground. She leapt up and shook Jennifer's hand.

"Yes I am.So,where is she?"

Jennifer said, sitting on a chair.Sarah looked flustered and called Aaron.

"Aaron!Get Emily!"

He ran up the stairs.Jennifer played with the expensive looking ring on her finger. She hoped it would go well.

******

Emily gaped at Aaron's news. She pushed past him and sprinted down the stairs. She stopped outside Sarah's door catching her breath. What if this was a mistake?Who was it?the dreamer side and the realist sides of her mind battled. The dreamer side won,as Emily took a deep breath and turned the door handle.

She saw a beautiful blonde woman sitting and smiling.Emily closed the door behind her.

"Hello."

The woman said.Sarah blinked a few times. She needed a new optician.

"Emily, this is Jennifer Luxe. She's here to adopt you!"

Jennifer smiled at Emily.Emily felt her knees go weak.Adoption! But a thought hit her.

"Sarah,I thought adoption took a while.....six months at least."

"Oh!Ms. Luxe notified me a few months back. It's all sorted."

The rest of the boring meeting seemed to fly by.As Sarah and Jennifer talked about legal stuff and her needs,Emily thought about her new life.A new room!Jennifer seemed single...and wealthy. Possibilities darted around her mind.A new li-

"Emily?Emily?Pack your things and say goodbye.Jennifer will collect you tomorrow."

Emily snapped back into reality.

"Oh!Yes?Perfect!"

Emily stammered.Jennifer smiled at her while she backed out of the door.Emily ran up the stairs and through open her bedroom door. Even though she had a day,Emily wanted to go straight away. It was quite easy-she didn't have a lot of belongings.A few cotton sweaters, two pairs of jeans, grey sweatpants, three coloured t-shirts and her swimsuit, for her clothes. She also had a velvet dress for formal events.A pair of sneakers and flats. Her stack of mystery novels.Pajamas.A toothbrush.Mr. Boo,her childhood teddy bear.It was immature, but she kept it for memories.

Emily said her goodbyes that night over Martie's pasta dinner. She slept badly that night, tossing and turning, her Pajamas sticking to her sweaty body.

The next morning,Emily showered and put on her best velvet dress. She looked out the window of her now empty room, one last time. She pulled back the faded curtains to view the Sacromento scenery one last time.

Now all she had to do was wait.
