(<:>)Raya's fighting style was based more on Pencak Silat, whereas Namaari leaned towards Muay Thai. Their differences complimented each other and made them stronger, she decided.
She was elated after her first kiss with Raya (she had to pinch herself to make sure she wasn't still dreaming).
This wave of euphoria continued until she remembered who was waiting for her at home - the 25 year old Ishan, whose name translated roughly to "master."
His parents had clearly been planning his uprising from the beginning.
With impeccable krabi-krabong skills, a biting wit sharper than a snake yet a sense of humor as dead as a skeleton in a summery Talon, Ishan was...inevitable.
Chief Virana thought he was perfect.
So maybe Virana should be the one to marry him.
Namaari shuddered. She couldn't imagine shaking hands with the guy, let alone other...activities.
Which is why she desperately needed a plan to ensure he didn't go after her throne and future with Raya. He was power hungry, for sure, but to what extent Namaari didn't quite know.
Her future with Raya? Wait. When did that become something to fight for in her mind?
She shook her head. Not important right now.
Anyways, she knew exactly who to go to for assitance.
(<:>)
"Omg my other girl Namaari, how are you?!"
Namaari winced at how loud Sisu was, but secretly, even if she didn't want to admit it to herself, loved it.
She bowed "I'm alright Sisu, thank you."
"Ahhh it's okay to cut the formality stuff, it's just me." Sisu playfully shoved Namaari so hard she staggered.
"So so so as much as I'd like to flatter myself that you're here because you like just love me that much, why'd ya decide to visit?"
Namaari didn't know how to phrase it, so she decided to just blurt it out: "There may be a challenger to the Fang throne, and I need advice on handling him."
"Well THAT'S a mood killer right there, ladies and gentlemen."
Namaari cleared her throat and Sisu sheepishly realized she was serious.
"My bad. I've been trying out this new import called coffee lately. What's so reprehensible about this guy, exactly?"
Namaari ground her teeth and reminded herself about the wonders of self-restraint. Or tried to, at least.
Emphasis on tried.
"He's a self-serving, backstabbing venturi son of a bi*ch who thinks pointless reform in Fang is a must and wants the world to burn." She couldn't help the torrent of insults that poured out her mouth.
Sisu let out a long whistle. "Sounds like you have some skin in the game over this."
"My mother wants me to alleviate the threat he poses through marriage" Namaari stated flatly.
It went straight over Sisu's head. "That's great! Love is quite the cure all. Gets people to calm down a bit, me thinks."
"No, Sisu. Chief Virana wants me to marry him."
"WHAT?!" Sisu's voice echoes through the trees, startling numerous birds. "But-but-but you and Raya-"
Namaari froze. "What about me and Raya?"
"Please, you'd be the perfect pair if you'd only woman up and realize it. I can't afford to let this ship sink girl."
She then noticed Namaari's fidgeting and began to smile. "...Unless, you guys have already confessed to each other?"
Namaari's scoff made Sisu squeal.
"I KNEW IT. YOU JUST MADE THIS DRAGON'S WEEK YOUNG LADY."
"Sisu, are you on something?" Namaari tried to be polite.
"Well I've started smoking some seaweed here and there, cleans out the sinuses ya know."
"I can tell" Namaari said. "I can tell."
"Pssh, back to the point. I'd be careful before you go around judging a guy just based on his political views, Namaari."
"I appreciate that, but I don't need a lecture."
"I mean it. Ya have to figure out the guy's motive. Like, your past actions weren't always the best, but your heart was in the right place. Maybe his could be too."
"As heart warming as this may be, this isn't a Fang children's shadow puppet play, Sisu. I just don't know."
After seeing Sisu's crestfallen face, Namaari apologized. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be rude. I will try to get to know him like you suggested, if only for the fact that one should keep their friends close and their enemies closer."
Sisu sighed. "It's all good. That's some progress I guess. I shouldn't have brought up your past, I know how much it still hurts you."
After a few more moments of awkward strategizing, they hugged it out, and Namaari went on her way.
Get to know Ishan? That venturi? How could that be the answer...
Ishan had never been afraid to belittle or even bully Namaari before, and she doubted much had changed.
I'll get to know him. Namaari decided. Through my fists.
She was desperate, and supposed either option was a fairly painless way to begin her campaign against him.
At least she had something to fight for.
A whisper in the back of her head called out "Mahal ko".
