1 month later

practice has started. we go from 3:00-5:30 after school every day and 7:30-10:00 on saturdays. after practice coach dwyane stays back 45 minutes with me to help me individually. i used to stay back alone but it's nice having someone help me. it's crazy how much i've improved over the past month. with the right teacher you can learn anything. we had our first game yesterday and won 56-32. i had 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. it's a great way to start off the season. i was proud of myself, so were my parents. they're my biggest supporters and i'm so incredibly lucky to have them in my life. instead of practice today coach dwayne invited us to his house for a celebratory dinner and to the watch film from our game.

diane graham: homeless or cute tn?

abbi smith: cute.

diane graham: damn i really ain't
feeling like getting out of my sweatshirt.

abbi smith: girl what if he son is there?

diane graham: did i miss something?

abbi smith: he's hot?

diane graham: i guess. i doubt he'll be there
and if he is he probably won't come out of
his room.

abbi smith: true. i'm still dressing cute
though just in case.

diane graham: have fun. ima be a bum.
do you wanna stay the night tn?

abbi smith: yeah just pick me up on your way
to coach's house so we can leave
together from there.

diane graham: okay see you soon wifey.

i wore my dads 'calabasas high school ladies basketball' sweatshirt and some adidas running shorts. i put on my air force 1's with my nike socks, brushed out my wavy hair and grabbed my phone and keys before leaving my room.

"bye i'm leaving for the team dinner." i yelled to my dad.

"bye, be safe. i love you" my dad said to me.

"i love you too." i said before exiting the house through the garage. i got in my car and drove off to abbi's house to pick her up. i pulled up to her house 10 minutes later to see her standing on her porch. she put her backpack in the back seat before getting in the passenger side and buckling her seat belt.

"put on your damn seat belt child." abbi told me.

"my bad i forgot." i said as i put it on.

"you gonna get yourself killed one day." she said as she got on her phone. she pulled up the directions to coach dwayne's house and we made our way there. we arrived 15 minutes later to a mansion. we were the first ones there. with me being captain i made sure to always try to be first to team things.

"do i ring the door bell or knock?" abbi asked me.

"hell if i know." i said chuckling.

"i'm gonna google it. hey siri do you knock or ring the door bell at a rich persons house?" she said while i laughed.

"here are the results for do you knock or ring the door bell at a rich persons house?" siri said as abbi looked at what pulled up.

"i didn't think it was that serious." i said laughing as i knocked on the door.

"no it said ring the door bell because of the size of the house they can't hear the knock." abbi told me while we laughed. a few second later the door opened.

"hi you must be diane and abbi! come in, i'm gabby dwayne's wife." she said giving me and abbi a hug.

"it's nice to meet you, you have a lovely home." i said as i survey the huge house with modern furniture and lots of white.

"you do, it's beautiful!" abbi said.

"thank you girls, i'll lead you to the patio where the table and dwyane is." she said and started to walk with us following behind her. we walked out onto a patio with a long table set with plates, decorative napkins, silverware, and glass cups. there was a pool overlooking a beautiful view.

"hey guys!" coach dwyane said as he came up to us.

"hey coach!" i said smiling and looking at the view of la.

"what's up coach, your house is gorgeous!" abbi said to him.

"it's so cool and that view is so beautiful!" i said still in awe of his house.

"thank you ladies. diane just wait until the sun sets." he said as bella and rachel came out and joined us. 10 minutes later the whole team was gathered around the table eating dinner which consisted of cheeseburgers, broccoli, and baked potatoes.

"i have to pee." i whispered to abbi and q since they were next to me.

"then go to the bathroom." q told me.

"yeah it's not that hard just ask where it is." abbi said laughing at me.

"fine but when i get lost in that big ass house i'm blaming you." i told them "coach where's your bathroom?" i asked him.

"you can go through the kitchen and down the hall and it'll be the second one on the left." he said before continuing eating.

"okay thank you." i said as i got up and made my way inside. i walked inside and made my way to where i think the kitchen is since i saw it when we first came in. i was on my phone snapping back some of my friends when i went to turn the corner and ran into someone.

"my bad." he said as he picked up my phone that i dropped.

"nah it's my fault i wasn't looking sorry." i said grabbing my phone back from him.

"you on my dad's team?" he asked me as he leaned against the fridge.

"yeah i'm diane." i said reaching my hand out for him to shake it.

"zaire." he said shaking my hand.

"zaire leave her alone." dwayne said yelling from outside looking at us through the windows.

"bruh that's cold." he yelled back at him. "i'll catch you later ma." he said walking away. i made my way to the bathroom peed, washed my hands, and made my way back to the table.

"sorry about him diane." coach dwayne said to me as i sat back down. i set my phone down on the table.

"it's all good." i said sitting down to continue eating.

"bitch what happened!" abbi whisper yelled at me.

"i ran into him not looking and he handed me my phone nothing else." i said as i took a drink of my lemon water. then my phone buzzed with a notification from instagram
