"so then i started crying because i was so frustrated, mad, and confused. i just didn't know how to react to what had just happened. then the bell rang so he took me out to his car and we just talked once i calmed down. my mom called me and asked me why i wasn't in class because she gets those notifications from the campus app when i'm marked absent. she wasn't happy i was missing class but she was kind of understanding of the whole situation, i briefly explained it to her because i was about to start crying about it again. i have to explain it all to my parents when i get home which i'm not excited for." i said to abbi as we walked out to our cars in the parking lot. i'm a petty person so i flipped off solomon when i saw him in the hallway.
"i was worried about you because i went looking for you and i couldn't find you and grace said you weren't in chemistry. i don't know why solomon would do something like that though, that's a bitch move." she said as were approaching our cars.
"yeah i don't know, i'll call you." i said before getting in the car. i got buckled and started my car before calling abbi so we could talk on the way. usually we ride together but since i have to go straight home tonight we can't.
"kinda don't wanna see zaire, kinda scared. probably scared him off anyway." i said driving to sierra canyon.
"lunch was a shit show." abbi said following behind me.
"tell me about it." i said turning out of the school's parking lot.
"marry him if he stays around even though patrick definitely wanted to fight him or something at lunch." abbi said to me.
"it's not even like that. i barley know the guy- what the fuck?" i said confused.
"what?" abbi asked.
"solomon is calling me, i'm not answering." i said declining his call at the red light.
"that's weird." abbi said, we continued to talk as we drove, and after 10 more minutes we made it to sierra canyon.
"you remember where to go?" i asked abbi since i didn't.
"i think so." she said.
"i gotta fill up my water bottle, so we need to find a water fountain." i said.
"me too, i think there's one by the gym." she said as we made our way into the school.
"what are you doing for christmas break?" abbi asked as i filled up my water bottle in the hallway.
"i don't know, can't do much because of basketball. i think my brother is coming home from washington." i said as i put my lid on my water bottle and abbi started to fill hers.
"is he still liking school there?" she asked.
"yeah i think so, he seems to." i said, then someone tapped my shoulder.
"hey i'm amari." they guy said after i turned around. he stuck his hand out and i shook it.
"i'm diane and this is abbi." i said pointing over my shoulder at abbi who waved.
"you go to school here?" he asked.
"no, i go to calabasas but we have practice in the gym here this week." i told him.
"i didn't think so, i would've remembered you if you went here. you play basketball?" he asked. abbi and i looked at each other both noticing him trying to flirt.
"yea-" i started to say until zaire interrupted me.
"yo diane what's up?" zaire asked giving me a hug once he was close enough. i looked for abbi but she basically disappeared into thin air.
"you guys know each other?" amari asked us.
"yeah, i gotta get to practice. it was nice meeting you though." i said before turning around and starting to walk away with zaire following me.
"what was that about?" he asked as we got closer to the gym.
"what do you mean? he just came up to me and introduced himself, isn't he on your basketball team?" i asked as we reached the doors.
"yeah. i also have practice so i'll see you after?" he asked opening the gym doors.
"sure but, i can't stay long. i wanna get ungrounded at some point. bye z." i said walking in the gym.
"bitch, why'd you leave me?" i asked abbi as i sat down next to her and bella and started to put my shoes on.
"i would've started laughing if i stayed any longer. 'i would've remembered you' now that was funny." abbi said laughing.
"abbi, diane can i talk to you two?" coach asked.
"yeah." abbi said and we got up and followed coach back out to the now empty hallway.
"how do you guys feel about scrimmaging the boys team here?" coach asked.
"today?" i asked.
"tomorrow." he said.
"i think we could do it, it would be good for us." abbi said and i nodded.
"okay, start practice please. i gotta go talk to the boys coach." he said before walking away.
"you get to play your boyfriend tomorrow." abbi said jokingly as we went back into the gym.
"wait he wasn't talking about calabasas boy's team?" i asked as my eyes got wide.
"no." abbi said laughing.
"well fuck. let's practice then." i said.
-time skip-
"i'm gonna get to take your ankles tomorrow." zaire said leaning against my car. our practice got out later so zaire was waiting on me.
"good luck." i said chuckling.
"you trying to give me a ride home?" he asked.
"i gotta go straight home remember." i said getting in the drivers side.
"it's on your way home please." he said getting in the passenger seat.
"fine." i said rolling my eyes.
"you better not be rolling those eyes at me." he said so i rolled them again.
"don't make me give you a reason to roll them." he said before grabbing my aux cord and pulling it into his phone. the ride to his house was mainly quiet except for his music playing and him rapping along every once in a while.
"i'll see you tomorrow shorty, text me when you get home." he said as i pulled up in his driveway.
"okay, bye." i said. he then got out and i didn't pull off until he got inside.
