summary: in which vinnie sees y/n at Starbucks, tries to get her attention at a stop light and follows her into target because it was l.a.f.s.
i've got find a better way to do Saturdays, y/n thought as she cranked up her 2018 Chevy Cruze to a roar and rolled out of the lot of her her apartment building a few minutes later.
since she started living on her own six month ago after landing her dream job as a stylist at her favorite Los Angeles brand, which demanded pretty much all of her time on weekdays, saturdays were the only time that y/n could get to grocery shop, get gas, pay bills, clean her new apartment, and any other thing she had to do be a functioning new adult.
but y/n never did all of this without getting a fresh, steamy grande London fog and banana bread from Starbucks. it was routine.
y/n pulled into the Starbucks around 9:30 am. like clockwork, she got out of the car and made her way the door, not noticing that she passed by a handsome young man that did a double take as she entered the building. sandy, the middle aged woman that always did the Saturday morning shift gave her a hearty greeting and had her London fog right up.
after chatting with sandy about her kids and how she was close to not having to work two jobs anymore, y/n was on her way out the door and back into her car and on her way to target. she so in her routine, that she didn't even notice the dark gray 2011 335i bmw pulling out behind her.
it was a beautiful day so y/n cranked up her music and sipped on her London fog joyfully as she headed to Target. As she stopped at a red light, she saw a gray BMW speed up beside her, she only noticed it because there was loud rap music blasting from it.
"hey!"
y/n looked around to see where the call came from. "hey roll down your window!"
y/n looked out of her passenger window to see a guy with curly red hair hanging out of a BMW with the music blasting. he was motioning for her to roll down her window.
y/n anxiety roared like a lion. she always clammed up when guys talked to her. its the reason she's never had a proper date or boyfriend in her life. this guy was probably just trying to tell her her tail light was out or something..no need to be worked.
y/n gulped and shyly rolled down her passenger window. "yeah" she asked. she got a good look at the guy and she almost cried at how cute he was.
"what's your name?" the guy shouted.
y/n heart pounded in her chest. "y/n" she said sounding a little confused.
"you're fucking beautiful!" he shouted.
y/n glanced at the light, hoping it would change soon. she cleared her throat, and said, "thanks", mentally face palming at her voice cracking.
"I'm vinnie" the guy shouted. "can I have your nu-"
just as vinnie was asking about her number the light changed green.
"sorry vinnie gotta go" y/n said speeding off.
"wait!" she heard vinnie shout, his voice distance as she raced down the street. she decided to take a detour and cut through a neighborhood to get to target instead of taking the main highway. she couldn't take getting cat-called today, she just couldn't.

fuck! vinnie had just lost the car. he wanted to kick himself because he was pretty sure he scared the shit out of y/n.
"you so fucking creepy" Vinnie's best friend kio said before gulping down his grande macchiato.
"kio, I need you to shut the fuck up and help me find this girl" vinnie said. "where would a girl be going at 9:30 am on a Saturday morning."
kio sipped his macchiato for a second thinking and he then said, "well....I would say Starbucks but we just came from there..."
vinnie rolled his eyes and tried to keep from exploding. "okay, and...."
"she looks like one of those girls..like a girl that's a baddie but not like a hottie, like they are doing shit with their lives besides partying and screwing around you know what I mean..."
"yeah, yeah" vinnie said impatiently not really understanding anything that was coming out kio's mouth.
"she's probably running errands" kio said slowly, so maybe she's heading to target? she looks sensible, so it has to be a target near here."
there's one on lemon street! vinnie said. in fact, I think I saw her turn into Lemon Estates, which you can get to target going through that neighborhood, buts its like 5 minutes longer. fuck, I think we can catch up. your a genius kio!"
kio scoffed and said, "yeah I know."
vinnie wasted no time and gassed it past 3 yellow lights and ran one red light. he finally made it to target parking lot, just to see the pretty girl that he was hollering at lock her blue chevy and walk into target. he parked a little ways away and looked at himself in the rearview mirror. he looked kind of like shit since he had been up all night playing video games but he didn't care. he put his black beanie on and his hood up, hoping it would cover some of the messiness.
"wait here" he said to kio before hopping out of the car and running into target. once inside, he grabbed a cart, thinking it would be a good idea to look like he was shopping instead of stalking the girl.
he started down the main aisle and spotted y/n turning down the beauty aisle. vinnie made a beeline for that section. at the last second, he decided to turn down the aisle before the beauty aisle to make it seem like he bumped into her. as he entered the beauty section, he saw her checking out the NYX display. right next to that display was soaps and Epsom salts, so he pretended he was going to look at. just as he reached there, he bumped her cart with his.
"oh shit sorry" he said in most pretend shock voice that he could muster, as she gave him a horrified look. "hey...I know you. your the girl from like 10 minutes ago..at the red light...in the blue chevy!
"I-huh?" the girl said.
its me...vinnie!"

y/n POV
y/n stared speechless at Vinnie.
he was SOOOO much cuter up close. he was tall and lean and wearing all black, a stark contrast to his alabaster skin. his curly red was under a black beanie and it curled cutely around the edges of the hat. he had a friendly, boyish smile and baby face. y/n figured he was a little younger than her, probably 19 0r 20 to her 23. she also noticed some tattoos peaking out on his hand...tattoos were a dangerous weakness.
okay, she was definitely interested now and she was desperately trying to think of something coy and flirty to say to him, but all that came out of her mouth was, "did you follow me here?"
vinnie gave her a confused look and said, "noooo", but the way he looked away caused her to be suspicious.
"okay vinnie", y/n said her tone disbelieving.
"I forgot your name" vinnie said changing the subject.
"its y/n", y/n said.
"can I call you sometime, y/n?"
y/n eyebrows shot up. "you waste no time huh vinnie." y/n pulled out her phone.
vinnie grinned and pulled his out as well. they exchanged numbers.
"so are you gonna be here for a while" vinnie asked.
"yeah got a lot of stuff to get" y/n said. "Saturdays are the only days I get to the store."
"can I help?" vinnie asked.
y/n looked over at vinnie and grinned. "sure, why not."
