y/n pov
y/n didn't know where she came from. her heritage was a mystery to her but was evidently the reason she was so different from others. she had been adopted when she was only a baby by the Harrison's. she had been one of the lucky ones to get adopted so early. despite the Harrison's being able to provide her a good home and education, it did not help her fit in. she stood out like a sore thumb.
y/n sighed as she examined herself in the mirror. chocolatey skin tone, with platinum white blonde hair. she had been accused of it being a dye job, but her hair really just grew of her skull white as snow and yaki in its texture. her look was so unusual. every black girl she had ever encountered had black or reddish brown hair, not white. and she had only seen one other black girl with green eyes, although her eyes had a warm hue, not the swirling madness of the green and gray that hers was. who had her parents been to produce such an alien creature. twirling a piece of it around her long slender fingers, y/n sighed. she wished she could just look normal, not like some person invented in a doll shop.
she bit her lip and closed her eyes. on top of fretting about her unique looks she had been feeling strangely lately, restless, agitated and dare she say..horny?
this feeling had come over her a couple of months ago and seemed to surge in the oddest of places...it was baffling what was happening but she couldn't put her finger on it.
just as she was about to go lay down her mom called her.
"y/n, can you go pick up the dry cleaning?!"
"ok" y/n called back grabbing the keys to her Honda Civic off of the antique white nightstand next to her bed. maybe getting out and some fresh air could clear her head and make her feel sane again...not jittery and restless.
she bopped to some music on her drive over to Cove Plaza where the dry cleaners her family used was located. cove plaza was next to one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in seattle - covington place. all the bitchy, self-entitled rich kids of her high school hung out at the coffee shop, restaurants and clothing stores in it. she usually avoided the place like the plague, since ppl didn't have the decency to not stare at her. they had too much money in their bank accounts to be respectful.
she parked in one of the spaces in front of the entrance to the dry cleaners and hopped out. she could already see the stares out of the corner of her eyes as she made her way into the front door of the dry cleaners.
an old lady, dressed in a uniform stood at the counter chatting politely with the man who owned the dry cleaners, Mr. Chen.
"yes ma'm, we'll be expanding services at the beginning of November to include delivery" Mr. Chen said excitedly. "I hope you will be our first customers."
