“I made it.” Charlie whispered to his twin. They stood next to each other on a raised stage in cap and gown.
“It was eighth grade Charlie.” Mary said with an exaggerated eye roll. “Did you think you wouldn’t?”
“I don’t know. It was all a little vague.”
“You are an idiot.”
“Precisely why I am so proud I made it.” Charlie laughed. Mary just sighed. “Could you just give me this one?”
“Yes Charlie. I am sooo proud that you made it through eighth grade.”
“We made it.” Mary smiled at Charlie as they both threw their cap in the air.
“Yeah. We did.” She replied smiling. Then she burst out laughing as Charlie clutched his head in pain.
“You could have told me the cap was going to stab me!”
“I wanted to let you have your moment.” She said with a shrug. Charlie scowled and chased his giggling twin sister across the middle-school campus.
