“Mary get your lazy butt down here! The college letters came!” Charlie called from the dining room where mail was scattered all over the table.

He could hear Mary’s pounding feet above him. He saw her, hair half done and in different ponytails and buns all over her head, makeup smeared on her cheek, and two different earrings in.

“Where are they!” She yelled, searching the dining room table frantically.

“Go change first. I want you to look presentable when you see that you got in.” Charlie chuckled.

“You are so sure of me. I’m not.”

“Go! Change please! You look like an insane person.” Charlie called at his twin as she sprinted up the stairs again. She turned around and stuck her tongue out at him. He laughed. “Real mature, Mary.” he muttered under his breath.

“I heard that you jerk!” She called from upstairs. Not five minutes later Mary ran down to her brother. Hair flowing down her back in a dark blue dress.

“You clean up nice sis.” Charlie smirked.

“Where are the letters?” Mary yelled

“Well, I know I put them somewhere…”

“Give them to me!” Mary yelled, snatching them from Charlie's jean pocket. SHe grabbed hers and tossed me mine. She ripped open the letter, terribly may I add, and her face fell as she sat. Oh god, he thought, I got her hopes up that she would get in and it wasn’t a given. I’m such an idiot!

“Hey, look, if you didn’t get in that's fine. We'll figure it out-”

“I made it.”

“Wait, what?” Charlie stammered. He thought she got rejected.

“What? Did you doubt me little brother.” She teased as he opened his.

“Well this, not little, brother just got into college for engineering!”

“We’re going to Northwestern?”

“Seems that way doesn’t it.” Charlie responded, grinning. Mary squealed and ran towards Charlie. He opened his arms for a hug and she ran right past him.

“I have got to call my Sasha from basketball. She is such a show-off, and I’m going to rub it in her face that I got a scholarship! She is going to be so mad.” Mary said laughing. Charlie just turned to face her with a confused expression.

“No hug for your twin brother.”

“Nope. I don’t like you.” She called as she walked away. Charlie shook his head.

“Well, I-, “ He stammered, “I don’t like you either!” He called back.

“Mhmmmmmm” She responded.

Charlie huffed and turned back around. He looked down in his hands at his college acceptance letter.

I can’t believe I made it. He thought. He picked up the phone to call his best friend. I got into college. Charlie smiled. He had everything he could ever want.
